I was at the game, so didn’t post here. The Cats were really sloppy but pulled out the win. Need to pack the Brick on Saturday.
That's what I saw as well....waaaay too many silly turnovers, but this team does a nice job of overcoming some of that.
I totally agree with the waaaay too many silly turnovers part.
Now this may qualify as a captain obvious statement but when you're talking about overcoming silly turnovers...
The best way to overcome silly turnovers is to not commit silly turnovers.
So I ask, if that statement is so obvious, then why isn't it being done?
The success of this team will be an inverse of their silly turnovers.
I'm not saying it's super easy but eliminating those turnovers is by far the easiest thing this team could do now
and gives the greatest and quickest return compared to any other way of improving their play at this time.

I think it's just part of the game. It's not a trend for this team, just happened to be one of those games. I see NBA teams and the top college teams have games where they make silly turnovers.

I would like you to be right on that but it feels and looks more like a trend to me.
About it being just one of those nights, I just posted on another thread that there were enough crazy things happen in the BSC on Thursday that I wondered if it was a full moon. It turns out it was not a full moon. Glad the guys got the victory and looking forward to them keeping the wins coming.

In his post-game radio interview, Danny mentioned that Jubrile Belo did not have a great game but that he was also playing even though he was really sick. Danny also said both Abdul Mohamed and especially Raequan Battle played well.

Here is the print story from 406 Montana Sports:

Being sick makes sense because he airballed a free throw.

This team is so much fun to watch. Looked like it was a good crowd as well!

Battle....... you can see why he was a top 100 recruit. Dude is crazy athletic, and doesn’t seem to miss.

Go cats!!!
I was going to say the same thing. He has been really solid and is the perfect spark plug off the bench. Not sure if the Big Sky does a 6th man award, but he would have to be in contention.
I see a bit of a selfish streak in him, and his defense is circumspect at times, but currently I think he would be a better starter than Mohamed.

I agree his defense still needs improvement, but I certainly see absolutely no selfishness in him. At this point, I still like Mohammed as a starter due to his leadership, defense, and rebounding. And I really like having Requan providing a huge spark off the bench. It really is like bringing an all league guy in, which is a huge boost.

I love watching Requan play! His shooting speaks (or should I say shouts) for itself, rebounding is a yes and one of these days I expect he will hit his head on the rim or backboard kind of like Mr. Ferch. I remember thinking in one game a few weeks ago what an awesome job of passing and getting assists he was doing. Ok, his defense needs some work. I can't help but think that when he comes off the bench, opposing coaches think oh crap here comes Battle.

I agree, and agree not seeing selfishness out of him. There was a stretch last night where he drained 3 three's, got a steal, got some great rebounds, and had an assist. Could be wrong but I think he's a good team player. I think he just has to do his thing when he's hot, and I don't think the other players would disagree.

I think he plays his role very well, and maybe that’s where the “selfishness” role comes in, but his role is get a bucket when they need it, and he’s shown he can put his head down, get to his spot and score at any time, and you need someone on the floor who can do that when your possession breaks down. I think it’s comparable to what the Miami Heat do with Tyler Herro, a guy who plays starter minutes and is a top level scorer, but rotation wise has just carved a good momentum streak on the bench.

Turnovers — I always think back to the advice that Geno Auriemma gives about passing, and his teams are famous for low turnover numbers. He says, “Make the simple pass.” Meaning, it’s about players moving to get open and moving the ball to them to get ahead of the defense. No need to force passes if your offense is moving.

Excellent observation. Basketball, like all sports, is a simple game. You don’t need to look to make a spectacular play every possession. Save that for when you have an overwhelming lead and you see the subs waiting to come in at the scorer’s table.

In most situations your teammates are expecting you to make the plays you make at practice under the close observation of the coaches. When you get away from that you tend to make mistakes because your teammates just aren’t ready.
