Bellach was the player of the game in last night's Frontier conference championship game.
Tech won by one point.

I caught the last 5 minutes of the game on channel 18.3 last night. It was a great 5 minutes of basketball to watch.
Tech won on a 3 pointer with 2.5 seconds left.

and as a side note. Why can't the Cat/Griz games get Rocky Erickson to do the color commentary or play by play. He is fantastic to listen too.
Also, Drew Huse hit the game winning jumper. Drew is the son of former MSU HC, Brad Huse. As a youngster, Drew spent a ton of time in the fieldhouse.

That said, the big controversy is that shot probably shouldn't have counted. The shot clock was showing 0 while the ball was still in Huse's hands. Apparently the Frontier conference doesn't do video replay. Crazy.
I posted this in the other thread too:

It was a great game to watch. Final shot by Drew Huse has some controversy as the shot clock possibly expired prior to the shot??

At first glance I'm not sure Carroll had a single MT high school player play a minute in the game. Tech had at least 6 from MT play. Both teams are really good and fun to watch but as a neutral fan I have to root for the MT boys.
I can see that for sure. I also really like Kurt Paulson. Just a super nice guy.

Article in the Helena IR today, the Frontier Conference confirms that shot should not have counted.

I rewatched that last shot by Huse. It was very close to being out in time. When the media had to go back and do frame by frame to determine it was shot too late means it was very very close to being shot in time. I will not blame the refs when it is that close.

Yeah not having a lighted backboard would make this really difficult for any official. Having done that job for 30 years in high school, my instinct would have been to let it play out as it did, it was so close.

I may be wrong but I don't think lighted backboard is used for shot clock--only game clock???

Agree. I don’t blame the officials. I’ve been to a number of carroll games, and their shot clock buzzer is pretty quiet, and in a rowdy environment, I can totally understand not being able to hear it. Additionally in a situation like that, I feel like the officiating technique would be to watch the shooter and listen for the buzzer….similar to a baseball umpire.

That said, it’s a TV game in 2022, the frontier conference needs to get with the times and implement some type of replay capability. At least for a televised championship game.

Apparently, per league rules, the backboard light is only for game clock.

As I typed that I had that thought. Being a high school official, I didn't know. :)

Article today said league has voted video down because to many of courts don't have enough room for the equipment. Said Carroll had it but refs would have to go up to second level.
