It looks like when we get to Boise in March (still a long ways to go) we'll have a legit shot in almost any matchup we see. I realize EWU is good and they'll likely be heavy favorites, but I still see us as having a puncher's chance against most of the BSC teams with the way our team has developed.

UM looked terrible against PSU....maybe they were all sick, looked like they had been partying all night.

Weber is pretty inexplicable. They blew out the Montana schools and then won both of their Summit League games, but are 1-5 since then! EWU looks great but they did last year too, then went down in flames with three straight losses at the end. MSU can hang in there with anyone, if they can get the end of game situations figured out they might have a shot. Would also be nice to expand the rotation just a little, but I trust the coaching staff to decide who's good enough to be in there and who isn't. At this point I'm assuming we won't see Aiden Gair this year and that he's redshirting.

After Sprinkle left and we lost our players as well I honestly didn't think we would be competitive this season. Witness the loss to Rocky Mountain College. However, at this point in the season Logie has put together a team that is absolutely competitive with anyone in the conference. That's a major accomplishment. Granted, we over rely on Rob Ford and we just can't afford to have him foul out, but I am impressed with Logie. I think we have a bright future with him as our coach.

Logie will be a special coach if he can recruit anywhere near as well as Sprinkle and his staff did. It's been a lot of fun to watch the clear improvement of the team's play as the season has progressed, which is something we often didn't see under previous MSU coaches.

I think Logie has done a fantastic job this year. I’m really looking forward to see how we stack up against Eastern. The one bonus I see is better to play them Thursday so we’re a bit more rested since a couple of our guys see major minutes. I actually think this team is capable of a little run in the tournament since most of the conference is evenly matched.

Biggest question I have is WTH happened to Weber?? I thought they must have had some injuries but checked and they seem to be at full strength for the most part. I wonder if Dillon Jones is regretting not joining Sprinkle and Co. in Logan…..

I would be pretty exited about the future if I were a Bobcat Fan (And I am). Here are the Top 3 returning players (barring injuries) that will all have 1 year with Logie under their belt...


Goracke (15 a game in Conference)
McMahon (was averaging 13 a game before Injury)
Walker (16 points a game in Conference)

Add in at least one GREAT High School signee, and a couple kids red-shirting this year, that I think are going to step-up next year. Cats will probably add at least 2 bigs in the portal, and maybe a forward... A portal, by the way, that the coaching staff can hit the second it opens... NOT after every other coach had already been hired, and taken what they needed.

I listened to Colter after the Griz game last week. He and Andrew both said Weber doesn't really run any offensive sets and everybody stands around waiting for Jones to make a play.

Honestly...this team as already more than exceeded my expectations. I expected this team to finish near the bottom of the conference and here they are 1/2 game out of 2nd place. And if not for that complete collapse at PSU they would be in sole possession of 2nd place. I am excited to see where Logie can take us.

Great post! One minor correction, Xavier Bishop was on the 2019-20 roster but did not play that year due to the pre-portal transfer rules at the time.

I was afraid we'd be closer to 7-23 like Fish's first year, so this season has mostly been a pleasant surprise. The super close losses to Seattle, Green Bay, and PSU are frustrating-along with the horrible loss to Rocky and the blown lead against Long Beach State. This team will be real close to a winning record at the end of the season which, taking the long view, is a major surprise. It's just dang...we should have 4 or 5 more wins.

I agree this year has me optimistic, and also has surpassed my initial expectations. There is a ceiling in terms of talent on the roster (losing McMahon AGAIN was a big blow) but the team is playing better and better. The spells in each game where the team looks confused and out of sync are becoming less and less, and if Ford hadn't fouled out we easily beat PSU.

This team has a better chance to win a tournament game than Fish ever did... still cranky about how bad Fish's teams were in the tournament.

Just saw the point spread on ESPN and it has us as 3.5 point underdogs. That's a good sign that we are headed in the right direction, as I think Eastern is good. Stories of our demise are overstated by casual observers -- those who are ready to throw in the towel whenever we have a poor performance.

I think the Weber coach is going to get whacked. He inherited the job from Randy Rahe and they seem to be sinking again. I think his seat is very warm.
