MSU WBB vs Utah

Post by CatRowdy » Sun Nov 24, 2024 8:14 pm

These Sunday games always sneak up on me! Ladies are playing Utah right now... 7:05 pm 11/24.
Utah looks to be a tough team, lots of seniors and juniors; tough defensively and pretty versatile on offense. Announcers keep saying how they get teams in foul trouble and it appears to be true; with 5 left in the 1st it's MSU with 5 fouls and the Utes with 1.

At the half shooting 38% versus their 48% and we are zero for 10 at 3 pointers. Marah and Martin carrying 80% of the points. Doesn't look like we traveled well for this one.
Couple really good shows of Chirrick's speed, as she matures she will be a heck of a force to deal with!

Young group provided a spark a couple times. But can't be 2-17 from 3 like they were at on point. Finally hit a few. Utah was averaging 90+ so defense was okay, but when we hit a few 3's they pushed ball and got easy shots. Not a bad effort

Dykstra (career high 22 pnts, 2 Rebs, 3 assists in 26 mins.) and Martin (13 pnts, 8 Rebs, 2 blocks) were solid as they always are for the Bobcats. Utah’s a tough defensive team that made their shots. We live and die at the 3 point line and today it was 17.4% at the arc for the Cats.
Final score: 53 MSU - 72 Utah

Morales couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn & finished with 3 points. Credit to Utah’s defense, especially that #2 (The Mosquito) who was in her grill all night. I really appreciated the TV announcers for Utah. They called the game with an even hand and were very knowledgeable about the Cats background.

The play-by-play announcer was Tony Parks, who calls a lot of Weber State men's games and also the Big Sky men's tournament along with Joe Cravens. No surprise that he was knowledgeable about MSU and the Big Sky, he does a great job!
