Re: WBB vs Idaho State
I would guess the coaches keep track of how many times we get a turnover...and then turn it right back over. We clean that up and nobody in this league will have chance. But too many times we get the steal and then go helter skelter to the other end and throw a bad pass or take an ill advised contested layup. Taylee is all gas and no brakes both ways. If they can put a governor on that motor of hers on offense at times it would be a great thing.
I don't think we'll change. The press didn't appear to work as well in the second half, but ISU was wore out! You're not mounting a comeback when you're completely gassed. I don't think Binford wants the opponent to catch their breath which pulling the press might do. It's Binford's version on reservation ball (res ball).
It will be interesting to see how we do on the 3rd game of the tournament (assuming we get 3 games). I thought we looked a little tired in that 4th quarter too which led to foggy brain decisions that led to turnovers.

I thought we kept the press on until the final buzzer with a double digit lead because Sobolewski is annoying as hell. Doubt that's the actual reason, but that's what I thought.

Love Taylee's game. She needs to work on going behind her back when she's dribbling when she drives. She's keeps the ball out a little wide and against strong defensive teams the gets it stolen. Cross them over maybe instead.BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 6:38 pmI would guess the coaches keep track of how many times we get a turnover...and then turn it right back over. One of the great things about watching Taylee play is that you can clearly see how much room for improvement she has on the offensive side of things. If the coaching staff can teach her when to dial things back a bit and play a bit more deliberately instead of going all out all the time...she will be one of the best ever to play for MSU.lutecat wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 9:42 pmLove Taylee's game. Oh definitely! She's gotten better as the season has gone on and that 50's style set shot three pointer of hers is becoming a threat.MSU01 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 10:13 amOne of the great things about watching Taylee play is that you can clearly see how much room for improvement she has on the offensive side of things. Re: WBB vs Idaho State
It's mostly funny, but this block of posts has a lot of the things I see as wrong with girl's/women's basketball. So much 'letting them do whatever they want to do' going on and coaches/trainers/parents afraid (for lack of a better word) to try to correct them. GBB/WBB has come a loooooooooong way the last 50 years despite all that. At some point the fine tuning will come.Bocephus wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 11:22 amThat 3 pt shot is wicked cool.BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 10:59 amOh definitely! Definitely! She's going to be a BAMF for this program. Same as watching Natalie from last year to this one. It's fun to watch!MSU01 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 10:13 amOne of the great things about watching Taylee play is that you can clearly see how much room for improvement she has on the offensive side of things. But the Eastern Washington game was unbelievable…….only on the court 24 minutes and getting 11 steals. The 11 steals in a game tied the Big Sky record for steals in a single game.

Crazy, right? I've never seen anything like this before. Maybe it's because we pressure so hard we're often out of position to rebound?

I don't think that you try and slow her down... The second you do, you are taking away the part of her that plays with wild abandon. Let her run, and make mistakes. let the team have fun and wear teams down. Sure there are improvements that they could make, but let them play.WalkOn79 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 2:42 pmI've been saying the same thing to those around me all year!BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 6:38 pmI would guess the coaches keep track of how many times we get a turnover...and then turn it right back over. In listening to Esme Morales's interview, it sounds like that's exactly what happening. Esme just tells her to do you.SACCAT wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 3:03 pmI don't think that you try and slow her down... I loved the recent tweets of Rick Pitino talking about his team. He was talking about not caring if they miss a shot, don't worry about it. Just get back and play defense. I think our team embodies that mentality as well.
Hear Esme's comments about Taylee at 3 mins:

Love the '80s style practice jerseys all the ladies have on in their interviews. Would love to see some basketball throwback uniforms at some point, especially the awesome gold home uniforms the teams used to wear back in the day.
Edit: Just watched Binford's interview and several of the players walking behind her have what appear to be gold uniform shorts on. Hmm....
