Ohio State Women Show their lack of class
I don't know when I have enjoyed a women's basketball game (that did not involve the Bobcats) as much as I did
watching the Tennessee Lady Vols whip Ohio State. UT dished out their own version of a full court press on OSU
which caused multiple turnovers while having no problem themselves with the OSU press.
And as a result OSU lost their first game of the seaon on their home court. Unfortunately they are really bad losers--
happy to dish it out, but they can't take it.

Re: Ohio State Women Show their lack of class
Not too surprising. It was hard to ignore her as the announcers couldn't help talking about her during the MSU/OSU game. She seems like a hot-head, emotional player that chooses to whine and moan when things aren't going her way.
I was happy to see the MSU women shut her down in the first half of our game with them.

I'd suggest reading this before bashing women's basketball players or teams for not having enough "class" for our liking.

I'd like to point out that if a men's player swears three times there will be zero headlines about it.

Totally depends on who it is. C. McMahon seems to be taking the Angel Reece path to fame and fortune. Her play is not so outstanding that she doesn’t need another crutch to get somewhere. Clearly she’s relishing the attention her classless behavior attracts. It would be a blessing to us all, and serve her right, if there were zero headlines about her antics.rfischer94 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 6:09 pmLikeBLACKnBLUEnGOLD wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 1:29 pmI'd like to point out that if a men's player swears three times there will be zero headlines about it.

Let's call a Spade a Spade. There's a reason Fox News reported on her flipping off the Maryland student section. Same as if an outspoken Trumper does it then MSNBC is more likely to report on it.MSU01 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 4:49 pmhttps://www.landgrantholyland.com/2025/ ... cial-media

We're seeing womens basketball covered like never before thanks to the Caitlin Clark effect. It's real.

Interesting. It's not so much her antics but what she's trying to accomplish with her antics, and therefore no one should complain about her antics because that's what she wants. Meanwhile, the story is pointing out that people tend to complain about women's basketball a great deal more than men's basketball. I'm just trying to blend this all together. The WNBA needs fans still despite the Caitlyn Clark effect, so does the WNBA want players acting like Reece and McMahon?Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 12:52 amTotally depends on who it is. C. And what about the NBA? In the late 70s it was stale. Then Bird and Magic came along and revived it. In the middle of that rivalry they were fighting each other constantly. Rambis clothesline Maxwell (or was it McHale), Bird and Kareem got into it, etc. And, oh boy this is great!, then the Pistons arrived on the scene with Mahorn, Laimbeer and Rodman. Enforcers were all the rage. The Mailman knocked out Isaiah Thomas who needed 40 stitches. Then there were the Jordan Rules and the Malice at the Palace where Ron Artest made a name for himself. And so on...

Re: Ohio State Women Show their lack of class
Villains and players/teams that fans love to hate or root against are 100% good for sports and make it more compelling to watch. I'm not sure if McMahon is good enough of a player to make it to the WNBA but I guarantee the league loves Angel Reese because whether you're watching her because you love her or because you want her to lose, you're still watching her. There are plenty of other examples too. The Dodgers right now are good for baseball because they're a lot of fun to watch even if you're rooting against them and hoping your own team or someone else can knock them off. The initial Miami Heat "super team" was great for the NBA back then for the same reason. It has even happened in the NFL recently with the Chiefs as a team and Travis Kelce in particular as a player whose fame has skyrocketed for reasons outside of football. Even the Cat/Griz rivalry benefits from Bobby Hauck's antics that predictably get Bobcat (and sometimes some Griz) fans riled up. I always roll my eyes when fans complain about "class" because sports simply wouldn't be as interesting if every player robotically behaved the same "classy" way and always said and did the same things to never make waves, cause controversy, or create discussion.iaafan wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 8:06 amInteresting. One Ohio State player showed bad sportsmanship in handshake line.
I read the story and it only describes one incident with one player.

Bobcat athletics is a business to the coaches, school leadership, and players. It's time the fans treat Bobcat athletics as a business too.

Re: Ohio State Women Show their lack of class
Cotie McMahon is WNBA material. She brings the size and strength to continue helping literally push Caitlin Clark out of the league. When I said Cotie’s game was lacking (and it does have holes) I meant she’ll never be as famous as Caitlin Clark just by her playing ability. There are a number of players greatly vexed that Caitlin could join their league, become a star, and become a major face of the league in one short year — or ever.
The WNBA has had plenty of “exciting” players, and plenty that were happy to entertain with their bad behavior. And it was sinking. Then along comes Caitlin, and causes arenas to overflow and games to have to be moved by doing one thing — playing basketball! The fans clearly voted with their attendance that they want less entertainment and more basketball. I know I’d never be disappointed watching a game or following a team that included Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers.
