Re: So.......
Not sure if it is poor shot selection, or just the best shot this offense can produce?

Re: So.......
Nice job 'Cats. It takes a great effort to be able to give up 22 points in a 5-minute overtime!

Re: So.......
That was not an inspirational effort. Don't want to lay blame on players or coaches but the reflection in the mirror is pure ugliness. Wow

That's where I'm leaning. Offense is run around like a chicken with your head cut off until the shot clock runs out then jack a three. Dear Coach Huse: Your offense sucks. Copy someone else's.LIBBYCAT wrote:Not sure if it is poor shot selection, or just the best shot this offense can produce?

Just pathetic. Not even sure if I can watch this team live on Wednesday the way they are playing.

Re: So.......
From what I saw (watched the last 5 minutes of regulation plus overtime until I had to bail), this offense is perfect for any guy who excels at hitting fade away three pointers. So ... all we have to do is recruit a few guys who can make those at a high percentage, and we're set.BelgradeBobcat wrote:That's where I'm leaning. Re: So.......
same drum.....gonna beat it.....
cats shoot 17% from downtown, 38% overall.....
unc goes 63% from deep
, 48% overall.
we also got out-rebounded, out-assisted, had far more fouls, and gave up 22 points in a 5 minute overtime!
honestly, it's getting so bad it's almost....almost funny.

Re: So.......
Seriously. This can't go on can it? Would this be tolerated at Weber? at Montana? It wasn't tolerated at EWU. When does the bean counter Fields have to account for what must be a huge drop in revenue from lack of attendance at home games? I suppose we can't afford to buy him out, but geez-we sure can't afford another season like the last six either.

Re: So.......
I would like to know how long you stay with a point guard that at the end of the game turns the ball over? What does it take to learn a lesson? Obviously five losses in a row is not enough. I bet that somewhere in the state of Montana there is a highschool point guard with enough basketball I Q to get the job done. At least Durham recruited good point guards. I mean come on, this is getting ridiculous. I love the Bobcats and I love basketball but it makes me sick to blow this game. I would have to say that Singleton is the worst point guard in the league and definately the worst for the Bobcats in the thirty some years that I've been buying season tickets. I am sure he is a great kid but he belongs in the Naia or Ncaa division II. Sure makes you appreciate Tony Hampton and Scott Hatler and Jason Erickson.

Re: So.......
We got swept by two teams with 7 combined conference wins going into this weekend, today we blew a 14-point lead midway through the 2nd half against a 4-8 team, we gave up 22 points in the 5-minute OT, we were 6-2 halfway through the conference season and will be lucky to end up at 7-9, we have folded like a house of cards in the 2nd half of the conference season every year under Huse ....shall I go on?
We have 3 conference games remaining, and after watching the game today, I'm not even overly confident about beating 1-11 NAU at home, and it will be a miracle if we come within 20 of either WSU or UM. I agree with what seems to be the consensus opinion on this board....how much longer can this go on?

Re: So.......
As soon as this season is over, we'll have the local sports journalists to provide their views on the state of our program. I would like a full analysis regarding who is returning, signees, etc. Frankly, I knew this season was going to be tough because we lost almost the entire team from last year.
Next, year, I expect to see a big turn around and a team that competes all year long for the BSC regular season title, hosting the BSC tournament, etc. If we can't do that next year, then I am 100% ready for a change in the coaching staff. This is, afterall, a business. We are all Bobcat fans, but still it is a business. We have a great sports town here and bills have to be paid.
If I had it my way, Huse would produce a championship caliber team next year and we don't have to go through the gruelling process of hiring a new coach. We just got a new coach in VB and looks to be a winner. MSU is a great institution with an outstanding fan base. The students, fans, and alumni deserve teams that compete for championships. Plain and simple.

Re: So.......
I can definitely understand the frustration of the fans watching this team.
I posted something similar over on eGriz in the thread for the MSU vs UNC game.
While I haven't been a Bobcat basketball fan as long as most of the people over here, I do follow them pretty closely and have been sort of a fan since Durham's era (unless they played the Griz of course). As much as I hate to say it.... I think I agree with the people saying it may be time for Huse to go. Something just isn't right.. In fact, it's horribly wrong and there's no real evidence that it'll be right anytime soon. Many of the players play like they are scared to screw up, and others try to pick up the slack when they don't really possess the offensive talent to do so, so they end up forcing bad shots as the shot clock runs down, or turning it over at bad times.
There's absolutely no flow whatsoever to this "offense" either. As others have said, it's run around like a chicken with the head cut off until the shot clock is about to expire then chuck up a desperation fade away 3, or some other desperation shot... Not exactly the ideal offense to be running with the type of athletes that you guys have on your team... When it comes down to the last possession of the game...holy ******... It ends up looking like no one really knows wtf to do. Can't put that all on the players.
Every year there are a handful of Bobcat recruits that make me (and probably many Bobcat fans) think "Wow...maybe they'll turn things around next year with these recruits!" and every year so far under Huse it's been the same thing. Lots of promise, apparently lots of talent that occasionally is evident, but poor results and a disappointing season, along with some highly touted recruits no longer being on the team.
I do really think the talent is there to be much much better than this. This reminds me a lot of what us Griz fans saw through the Holst era.

Re: So.......
Huse's offense is a joke. Any basketball fan can see that. Huse needs to hire an offensive coordinator more than Ash does.

Re: So.......
Belgrade and I talked about this on twitter... but it sure seemed like after they built the second half lead, UNC's press made them very tentative.
Hill told me one of the reasons they started to press was that MSU was taking 30 seconds per possession once they built a lead... they stopped being aggressive, and ran a lot of weave up top, running the clock down a bit. Settled for a lot of outside jumpers which were not falling all game, outside of a couple nice ones from Budinich.

Re: So.......
I watched the first half on Altitude when the Bobcats had various 8 to 10 point leads, thinking, well, they should win this one pretty easily. Huh, what happened? Hmmm...wbtfg wrote:Stopped watching. I take it we lost.

So.......
Wife, son and I drove up from Littleton to attend the game and sat in the Bobcat section of 8 fans directly behind the MSU bench. There were hundreds of Cat fans at the football game this Fall.
It was a pretty amazing collapse after leading by 12. You could see the boys simply give up as NC closed the gap and finally win in OT. Their body language on the court and on the bench was striking. They did not have the fight in them to win. It reminded me of our football team vs the Griz and The BearKats this season.

Jonathan Reed provides a good neutral perspective about the game in his blog: http://www.bigskybball.com/2012/02/nort ... alive.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
