They also must get a pretty good chunk of money from the Koch family as well -- their arena is named after Charles Koch. Having one of the wealthiest people in America as a supporter definitely helps.grizzh8r wrote:But WSU does have an historically strong baseball program, too. Of course metro Wichita has about 700,000 people, a large local alumni base and they REALLY support that school. But it can be done...

We did beat 2 of those 3 in the mid 1990's. But right now I wouldn't mind if our program turned into a Northern Colorado or a North Dakota.catatac wrote:I honestly don't understand why this program at some point couldn't turn into a Butler, a Wichita State, a Gonzaga... etc. What would it take? A dream coach? More $$? Better facilities?

Anyone envy NDSU? National champs in football and going to the Big Dance in hoops. Wonder if we could hire their AD?
Right now just bringing in a hot dog high school hoops coach would be worth a try.

Indeed, having the support of the Koch family is a big boost. BTW, for those of you used to hearing Koch pronounced "cauch" (like Koch street in Bozeman or the Peter Koch tower on campus, both named for the Bozeman pioneer), the Koch in the above discussion is pronounced "coke".Bay Area Cat wrote:They also must get a pretty good chunk of money from the Koch family as well -- their arena is named after Charles Koch. Nicely played. No, but they do have cheerleaders that use the "Shock Em'" sign:

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.
