I admittedly am always looking for the positive, but I've been a bit down this season. However, this game is giving me hope. . We are right in most games and it seems that our team is slowly gelling. Cardiac cats, at least it is entertaining.

Yet another close loss incoming. We just look scared on offense in clutch situations. Mullins is dominating and they completely go away from him, why???

Cause Walker came back in. I’m a little surprised Logie has left Walker in this late in the game. He sucks up sooooo much clock.

Bryce missing that layup at the rim says so much. So close yet so far away for the Cats this year. Ugh

Absolutely unfathomable to me that they had Walker and Zephir out there playing isolation ball after Mullins had dominated the last few minutes with basket after basket. Logie knows more about basketball than all of us combined but it's hard to figure out what he's seeing out there!

Dribbling in the low post while being double teamed is something my high school coach would’ve benched me for…..possibly permanently.

Brian Fish probably knows a lot more basketball knowledge than all of us. I don’t think it’s a predictive factor in coaching success.MSU01 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 9:01 pmAbsolutely unfathomable to me that they had Walker and Zephir out there playing isolation ball after Mullins had dominated the last few minutes with basket after basket. Re: MBB @ UNC
Yet another game where the defense becomes nonexistent down the stretch. Can’t really say I’m surprised because Logie’s entire philosophy is based on a free-flowing offense (that really isn’t very free flowing) and zero defensive identity. They start strong on D but fade because it’s not engrained into them to work hard on defense. It’s very obvious they don’t work on defense the way they did with Sprinkle. And honestly, the only reason this defense has any amount of heart is because there are enough of Sprinkles “guys” left on this roster that give a damn about playing hard.
I was up in Flagstaff for the Thursday game and it was a masterclass of getting out physicaled except for honestly Sam. He held his own and got abused down low and didn’t get any favors from the refs whistle.
I’ll say it time and time again, this team is not out of it.. they’ve played the conferences top teams tough (for the most part) and show they can compete in those games. They just need to finish one to show them they can win. At this point I’m hoping they can squeeze their way into the 5th or 6th spot in the conference tournament. From there they’re obviously gonna have to run the table. And this team has the ability to run that table. Going to require more than a bit of luck though at this point…

Cats are now in a 3-way tie for 6th/7th/8th with NAU and EWU. Favorable schedule the rest of the way though with 4 of 6 remaining games at home. Really need another home sweep next weekend to get back to .500 going into Cat/Griz.

Unfortunately, as is winning, losing is habit forming.

Literally just said the same thing in a text thread. Losing is a monster that creeps up and will continue to rear its head until it’s dealt with.

UNC had motivation to avoid a 2-game losing streak after getting outplayed by the Griz on Thursday night.

Re: MBB @ UNC
Perhaps the only team worse at closing out games than the Bobcats is our next opponent, Weber State. Somethings gotta give and it's probably gonna be ugly. Idaho State just won in Ogden by 5.
