I'm not trying to target saccat, and yes he does a good job. It's more about the style of the calling and the depth of the knowledge of our team. Daniel is also the Director of Operations for the WBB team. He's at every practice so he has greater depth of knowledge of the plays and players. Plus he has a pregame interview with coach and a halftime interview with Sunny. Because he's doing radio he has to call the plays so the listener can visualize them which I like even when watching TV. Finally I like the idea of one media voice for the team. Oh and yes without a doubt Catscat.. if I never had to listen to Redpath call another game again I would not be upset.
Lot to unpack here...
1) Daniel does an amazing job, and so does Keaton
2)Leirfield has nothing to do with the ESPN+ Broadcast
3)ESPN and the Big Sky want the TV broadcast to be extremely non-biased... As if you were just watching a random game. Probably 70% of the people watching the game are the fans of whomever is playing MSU. They use to use the radio feed for years, BUT something happened during a game once , and that ended that.
4) I have absolutely NO PROBLEM with any criticism I get about my work calling games (I called Sam the "Pelouse powerhouse, and the F-ing river isnt even in Wyoming!!) . This is just my 3rd year doing TV games (30th doing radio games) so there is LOTS to still improve on. Someday Keaton will move on, and you will all be stuck listening to me on the radio for 20 years....
Lastly, I appreciate everyone that watches the games, and I strive to still bring my love of all things Bobcat to each call, even if I do get calls and emails from opposing fans (and players and caoches sometimes) telling me I am a Homer.
I heard the Pelouse remark and chuckled. The reference to "The Pelouse" is referring to a region in northern Idaho, eastern Washington, and a small part of northeastern Oregon. When we say The Pelouse we're referring to that region that is famous for it's wheat growing, not the river. I believe Sheridan Wyoming was part of Johnson County when the range wars were blazing in the 1880's and 90's. Maybe you could make some kind of obscure reference to that when you search for a nickname for Sam. Or maybe the Bighorn Mountains?
Love the broadcasts keep it up.

MSU fans are very fortunate to have great announcers for both the TV and radio broadcasts for all sports. I doubt Ian is going anywhere, but hopefully Ben & Ty are back next year and Keaton sticks around for a while though I have no doubt he'll be on to a much bigger job someday. If you doubt that this is the case, just tune into any Griz broadcast and listen to Riley Corcoran or Jay & Marty.

I’m glad you mentioned the gris (their spelling, not mine) broadcasts. Mr. SACCAT made a point of saying the ESPN+ broadcasts have to (are supposed to) be extremely unbiased, and he takes that seriously. The gris announcer Riley Corcoran totally ignores this.

Redpath is not exactly unblemished in her love for all things gris either.

The last 3 posts in this thread highlight some great stats this year's lady Cats have put together. I found a stat that really surprised me in how the Cats compare to the lady Griz this year. The Cats are at 29th in bench points per game with 25.2/G while the Griz are at 25th with 25.7/G. Now that's only .5 points difference but I'll admit that before seeing that stat I would've recklessly bet anyone that the Cats were way ahead in that stat.
Earlier in this thread I posted:
Bummer that SACCAT won't be doing the PxP for the lady's game but Ben should be able to do a good job. Now the big question is, who will be his color commentator? Ty Gregorak could have a field day with Roberts Montana Ben! and his head would explode with SACO Montana if Teagan Erickson got in the game.
The more I've thought of that the more I wish it would happen. Ty could really add some color with his Gregorisms describing the intensity of the Cat defense. I don't know if Ty likes or knows much about the game of basketball though, which lead me to a rather scary thought. Maybe they'd ask a certain person we know that seems to have some knowledge of the game of basketball, you know like Marty "Shot Clock" Mornigwig. I apologize for even thinking it let alone posting it.

Haha I had my dessert before ever reading your post, and besides that, you can't tell me what to do you're not my daughter. Those who have a strong and very confident daughter will know what I'm talking about. I wouldn't want her to be any other way. (most of the time anyway)

The announcer tried to toss in some cute out of place political comment that added zero to the game.
It was a classic case of: If you don't discipline yourself properly someone else is going to step in and discipline you.
99% of the time your life will be better if you discipline yourself rather than be so undisciplined that someone else has to step in and discipline you. Just think how much better the world would be if everyone understood that and followed through on it.
Stepping off soap box now, can't wait for this game to start. GO CATS!

Okay, this team has proven their defense.
However, I’d like to see them win a game with offense included. I believe they are capable of ten more points a game by hitting layups, avoiding some careless turnovers. As the season winds down they need to get this V-10 engine running on all cylinders. Competition gets tougher. Evenyone gives us their best shot. In this one-bid league they need to own the tournament. I think this is their best shot in the NCAA tournament.
I’ve been a devoted fan of this team since 1993. No doubt in my mind this is the best team. Better than the NCAA team that played Washington and the 19–1 Fallon Frieje covid team. Why — more talent all through the rotation. They really have a lot of talent. Let’s let that offense roll and raise the roof.

I'm thinking the Cats heard you B4E. They are attacking the hoop with the intention of scoring.
I really like the colors of the uniforms and warmup jackets.

Keep pouring it on in the second half, ladies. Don’t slow down.
And if they don’t continue to use the gold uniforms, it would be a crime.

Going pretty well so far. A couple starters with turned ankles is concerning. Deden and Janssen contributing big time! Them backing off Esme at the 3 point line is a bold strategy.

At the half 28 of the Cats 57 points are from the bench!
Injury to Dylan sucks, looked like right knee. I think she was taken to the locker room, hopefully not too serious she didn't seem to be in too much pain. Still I'm worried
Dykstra was a little gimpy with an ankle too and not sure she's been back in since but at least she's on the bench
