Dang. I just rewatched that Weber game. Now I'm too pumped to sleep.

The on-demand ESPN+ replays are fun to have available. I can neither confirm nor deny that I've watched the women's championship game three times now (not including NAU's 17-0 run which I 'accidentally' fast forwarded through).

Weber State in the playoffs and Joe Cravens on color is the perfect occasion for the block charge dance. This never gets old.

Wow jump ball? Seriously??? That might be the worst call of the night and that's saying something.
I lost it in the stands. Screaming at the dude that he needed to take his whistle off. He didn't belong on that stage and looked completely lost. The best official on that crew went down because Jubrille was being a dough-head.

I was at the Friday/Saturday sessions. Incredible turnout by Bobcat nation.....and shoutout to the band and cheer squad....they really add a lot of spirit to the games. Sadly, NAU was the only other school with a pep band in attendance. UNC didn't even have a cheer squad...just the mascot. We're fortunate to have so much support for MSU athletics.
The Gris must have known it wasn't going to be a good week. Didn't bring their band either. :)

FYI if you didn't know the championship presentation relay is on ESPN+, I think you may need to search "Big Sky" or scroll down to conferences and dig through the replays in the Big Sky.

Well I can tell ya one thing- if either the Cats teams happen to pull the upset this Friday... then this dude will be singing before every bobcat sporting event until the day he dies (whether he wants to or not, ha).

So… I’ve got a wild one to discuss.

If Gonzaga can rise out of the dumpster fire that is Spokane, what would it take for the Cats to be the next Gonzaga?

Anybody know if someone has recorded all Joe Cravens one liners and put ‘em down in a book. I always get a kick out of em….

A couple I chuckled at this past week…. “Back when Moby Dick was just a minnow”…….”back when the Dead Sea was just sick”….”Guarding Bishop is like trying to nail jello to a tree”. Think I heard those correct.

Sprinkle is a highly motivated, goal driven guy. Maybe that's his next thing. Of course, Gonzaga's got some serious money behind them and no football program to feed so there's that.

I had forgotten they don’t have a football program but that certainly would focus more dollars into basketball.

Our neighbors in the state next door have quietly risen up the ranks in the NCAA tourneys through the last decade….yeah maybe that is just small steps but there is no reason that MSU can’t achieve similar levels in the years to come. Both are state schools like MSU.

On another thread I had pointed out that the SDSU women have several first round victories making the 2nd round 3 times and making the Sweet 16 in 2019. The University of South Dakota women have been in the tourney 4 times in last 8 years and have been seeded as high as #8…..they also won the WNIT championship in 2016.

This year the South Dakota women are seeded #10 and SDSU men are seeded #13.

There is no doubt in my mind that Coaches Binford and Sprinkle can continue to lead MSU to some NCAA and NIT tourney wins. Can you imagine how crazy it would be if we had a team in the Sweet 16 or won a NIT Championship. And I know if we stick with it and the Coaches keep building we can do it!

Consistency and a coach (or coaches) willing to see it through. Dan Monson didn't stay long but he became the coach after the long tenure of Dan Fitzgerald who was there for almost 20 yrs and had a pretty good overall record. Dan Monson then took the next step and bolted early and we are all aware of what Mark Few has accomplished. Also, the Gonzaga alumni tend to be pretty wealthy and show a lot of support in a lot of ways and they travel very well. I hope Danny Sprinkle becomes the next Mark Few and leads our team for decades.

Well we know there is stupid money flowing into Southwest Montana right now (Gallatin and Madison Counties). MSU's fundraisers just need to figure out how to siphon some of it to MSU athletics-easier said than done. Our fan support, proven by Frisco and support in Boise is pretty darn good and can get even better. It's paying the coach and staff, it's having the funds to fly charters instead of busses, it's all the bells and whistles in the locker room, its getting your games on TV...all that sort of stuff. Last two times we were good (Starner era mid-80's and then Durham era in the mid-90's) it only lasted through one class. MSU didn't ride the momentum and make improvements, they stayed put-much like the 1984 football title which brought absolutely zero improvements to the stadium or other facilities.

Drop football. Put all that money toward basketball, then double it.

Having been to many MSU sporting events home and away, as well as many Gonzaga basketball games, this year, their basketball fanbase is as rabid or more so than MSU's football fanbase is and that is saying a lot. Paying the coach and staff, raising funds is all well and good in theory. We have to realize that we are at the whim of the Board of Regents, without their say so for many things, mainly coaching salaries, we can't make it happen.

Gonzaga can choose where to place their money because they are a private institute of higher learning much like Duke is, we are sadly stuck footing the bill for UM while they are the low rung on the pole. This cycle of one system being better than the other has "theoretically" been working for decades and our powers at be won't begin to make the decision to favor one school over the other, nor should they. In order to fly those charter flights and get the bells and whistles, and in order to get more high profile games on tv, we have to rely on private funding. All the money in the world can be flowing into and around Bozeman, but unless a deep pocket fan/booster/alumnus, we are going to be set squarely with Um. So the onus is on us fans that believe in our athletics and athletes. Having said that, our fanbase is amazing and I have not meant to discount any of the things that anyone or any group has done, I believe in the passion and support that is very evident by all.
