MBB: West Coast road trip

Alright - the men take back to the hardwood this weekend, traveling to Long Beach State on Saturday and then a rematch with Cal State Fullerton on Monday. This is a pretty big road trip in my opinion, as the Cats will only play two more games this season (the Grantree Holiday Classic) before conference play begins in earnest. Neither Long Beach nor Fullerton have lost at home this season, and CSF will be seeking to exact revenge for an earlier loss to the Cats in Bozeman. Long Beach has a guard by the name of Donovan Morris, and I remember him from last season when the Cats took down Long Beach in Bozeman. He averages almost 18 ppg, and is crazy quick. As of yesterday, both teams have a higher Sagarin rating than the Cats (LBS - 151, CSF - 166, Bobcats - 183). If we could steal at least one win, if not maybe even a sweep, I think this really would propel our boys into our holiday tournament and give us some great momentum as we face UM to get conference play underway.

According to BigSky TV - you can watch the MSU game against Long Beach on Saturday over the internet:

We need Howard to bring some consistency to his game. It seems that he either scores 20 points 7 rebounds, or 4 points and 2 rebounds. Right now I think Bynum, Navaree, and Mbunga are playing great, and more importantly consistent. I do not think we need 20 points a game from Howard to win but I do believe we need an offencive threat from that position, and more importantly, if his shots are not falling he needs to hit the boards and get his 6-7 rebounds no matter what. This team plays tough, and does not ever seem to give up, plays good defence and I credit that to good coaching, but we now we need to bring a little consistency on the offencive side.

On this night-MSU alone was victorious in a non-conference game. Everybody else lost-most by quite a bit.

On the night's only conference game Portland State is drubbing the griz.

PSU is tough-maybe another Big Sky tourney in the Rose Garden? (there are worse places to have it).
