I liked watching her play and appreciated the fundamentals she displayed. Good Luck and thanks for the memories Ms. Heringer.

i wanted to post this last week, but with all of the rumors floating around regarding her reeasons for leaving i felt i'd just leave it alone. i was going to pm mslacat and see if he was hearing the same things but also decided to just take the wait-and-see approach. i wish her the best.

I do not know what her "personal reasons" are and I have not asked. The women's game is different in this respect than the men's game. Some women seem to be able to just move on to new phases of their lives out side of sports better than men. You just see it a lot more in women's sports. Remember Heringer took a medical redshirted and actually just finished up her 4th year at MSU, maybe it was just time to move on. I really wish her the best of luck.

I met Jenny and her parents last year and had a conversation with her father after the last game. I told him that Jenny was my favorite player because she did everything right and was always in the right place although she couldn't make some of the plays that more athletic players could. You could tell that coach Binford wanted her on the floor at the end of the game especially if it was close, even though she didn't start.

I asked him if there was something still wrong with her and early in the season he said she's fine, but after the last game he admitted that I wouldn't believe what she has to go through to play at the level that she did. I could tell that she couldn't run as fast as she wanted to and that she relied on anticipation and positioning in order to play defense as good as anyone on the team...surely she wasn't able to be as athletic. I believe that if not for her condition we would have witnessed a player that could have displayed the ability that broke Shannon Cate's records. I really don't know the condition she was in, but I heard that she hardly practiced. I also don't know how many times she led the team in rebounding for a 5'9" guard with no wheels. Jenny is one tough little girl and after having met her, she is also one of the nicest and unassuming individuals I have met. I just hope her condition will not hinder her in having a normal life after Basketball.
