Cats vs. NAU

Cats win 62-50.
The first half was woeful. The players on both teams aren't used to back-to-back nights I guess. Judging by the score in Missoula where both teams didn't get out of the 40's it was same thing up there (except UNC won). From a fan standpoint I like having a game on Friday night instead of Thursday-but if we have to watch this quality of basketball it might be better to go back to the old way (once the economy improves?).
The Cats trailed 28-23 at halftime and struggled to get that 23! Shots just wouldn't fall. NAU's shooting wasn't much better obviously.
A 13-0 run to start the second half put us in better shape. Bynum and Howard got going, and Navarre-who should be Big Sky POW in my opinion hit some threes. During the run we got three straight old fashioned 3-point plays by being aggresive and driving to the hoop.
NAU is rebuilding. No more Josh Wilson (think that was his name) who was there for about 8 years it seemed. They only have one senior. Adras seems to be stuck in the same mediocre hell that effected Mick Durham most of his career.
Good start to the conference. We'll be in first place for a good long while as teams go back to non-conference.
Memphis is next-yikes.

Ya jerk.
Good analysis. The first half was PAINFUL to watch from both teams. Good second half. I agree Navarre should be POW. One thing that has really impressed me is not only has his shooting improved from last year, but his defense is very aggressive which I like to see.
One correction for UM/UNC score. It was 59-48 final. I was listening to the post game and heard 49-48, but ESPN has it as 59.

Sorry to steal your thunder. I was way slow typing that up.
That score in Missoula surprises me. Northern Colorado really is formidable (and our win over them was more impressive than many realize).
Bobby Howard's finishing underneath has really improved, and he and Brandon Johnson owned the defensive boards in that second half.
This team may have a chance. I hope Cody Anderson improves...a lot. We need a capable big guy.

I'm 100% just giving you $hit. It sounds like UM shot pretty cold tonight much like NAU and MSU (MSU more in the first half. I think they were something like 26% in the first half and right around 32% for the game. I think the post game said NAU was also somewhere in the 30's for shooting percentage for the game.
Bobby and Brandon were animals on the boards tonight. It was good to see them step up like that. Cody does need to improve, especially against a team like UM with a big man like Qvale. We'll see how everything goes for the rest of conference play, but so far, off to a very good start.

Good win for the Cats!! These back to back games are going to be tough, but we've had them in the past. They require more strength from the bench and it was nice to get that tonight from Pieppoli (sp?), etc. I hate to see these conference games in early Dec. but now it's all non-conference for awhile and the Cats are sitting 2-0- damn good start. griz lost to UNC by 11 so last nights win by the Cats is UNC's only loss so far this year and they have wins over Air Force and Colorado St.
