Possible loss of automatic bid

Over on the Egriz football board, certain posters assert that the BSC may lose its automatic bid to the NCAA tournament if the non-Montana schools do not improve their APR scores. If this occurs, these same poster assert that both Montana and Montana State would leave the BSC, thus giving UM an opportunity to move up to Division I-A. UM pipe dreams aside (be careful what you wish for), is it likely that the BSC will lose its automatic bid to the Big Dance in the near future because of APR scores or even the greed of the larger conferences/schools?

And yet the NCAA is talking about going to a 96 team tourney.

So if both MSU and UofM leave the Big Sky because of this and the Griz move up, where might the Cats go?

There has been no formal talk at this point about a whole conference losing a bid--there are already stipulations built into the system for individual schools to lose their post season opportunities. No other talk at this time.
