Re: Almost January - Who is legit?
I think the league has looked very good so far this season. Collectively we have multiple wins over every other western conference, including the Pac-10, WCC, Mountain West, WAC, and Big West.

Re: Almost January - Who is legit?
While my Montana State may lead the league right now in wins and on paper, when it comes to the Big Sky Conference I tend to look at the league in terms of road wins, and who has defended their home court. In the past it has always seemed it is the team that can get the most road wins usually takes the league. In this system you give a team +1 points for every road win, 0 points for a home win or road loss, and -1 point for a home loss. According to that system here is league looks very early.
Northern Colorado +1
Weber State +1
Montana State 0
Eastern Washington 0
Northern Arizona 0
Portland State 0
Idaho State 0
Montana -1
Sac. State -1
While it is still early I definitely think that it is Northern Colorado who is sitting in the "Cat Bird Seat" with a road win over Montana earlier this month. Montana is expected to be a contender and N. Colo. has already got a road win in Missoula. Montana has one of the biggest home court advantages in the league, and as a result I really do not see it loosing very many if any more home games. Weber is the other school with a +1 but it came against Sac. State who I think is not going to be nearly as competitive as Montana. Montana has dug themselves a hole losing to N. Colo. They are going to need to pick up ground and hope N. Colo. is not as good as the appear to be.
As a Montana State fan, I do think they are in as good of position as they can be. When you look as to where the coaches and media picked them they are doing extremely well, but Montana State has looked very good in the preseason the last two years only to then under perform come conference time, so I am still cautiously optimistic.

Re: Almost January - Who is legit?
A guy told me the other day that Huse has MSU playing Brad Ball. It was the first time I had heard that term. I think that means good defense and good execution on offense. MSU hasn't been rebounding well though and that is usually a killer and spells trouble against UM and WSU in particular.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Re: Almost January - Who is legit?
My take on the men's team is that they are playing "Brad" ball . This team is mentally tough, executes fairly well on the offensive end and if we had a player like Divaldo playing on this team we would have a good shot at winning the conference. We don't so we won't win the conference. We will be a tough team to play though and I think that Eric Rush should be an all conference guard by the end of the season.
