You get San Jose State.

You're welcome.

That is nice...it should be a winnable game. Last time the Cats hosted one of these, in 2006, we got Idaho. They won, at least.

san jose is having a decent year. they are really up and down though. they have beat some good teams, and lost to some average teams. northern colorado crushed them earlier this year but i think they are much improved since then. should be a test for the cats.

The game probably won't garner much/any attention, but it's a good chance to add a late Feb. DI win.

Games like that, you are supposed to win at home, you hope you build some momentum going into the BSC Tourney.

San Jose St. is pretty decent, but it is a game that should be won by the Cats. I watched them play against Washington earlier this year, and they were solid. Adrian Oliver was the national player of the week a couple of weeks ago. The UW Huskies could still use him.

Is this game going to be on TV?

Might be on BigSkyTV but don't count on it.

That was pretty fricken woeful.

San Jose lost to Northern Colorado by 24 points earlier this season. They must have improved a whole lot. They have nice long forwards and post players and they knocked down any outside shot when left open (which was way too often as our defense looked lost most of the night). If they were a Big Sky team I'd guess they'd be in the top 2 or 3...but then there's that Northern Colorado result-so you never know.

One step forward-one step back all season.

I'm going to say that SJSU is probably more like a middle of the road BSC team.

Yep. I saw them in person when they played UW earlier this season.

And I still want your help next week at the sports books in Vegas!!

As long as it's your money

MSU is a middle of the pack Big Sky team and SJSU beat us at home by 11-a much wider margin than any Big Sky team was able to do. Thus my thought that they'd be near the top of our league. They're longer and more athletic than any Big Sky team-however their point guard wasn't anything special (he'd be a small forward in our league).

Hard to say though. I doubt Huse spent any time scouting SJSU as he had to worry about Sac State this week whereas SJSU only had to play us this week.

Yeah, I wouldn't put too much stock in today's game. It was a throwaway for MSU.

I guess when I say middle of the road, I'm saying anywhere from 6th to 4th. I don't think they could compete with the top 2 or 3 teams, as evidenced by the UNC game. They also lost to Nevada by something like 35 a few weeks ago. I can't see any of the top 4 or so BSC teams doing that. They have some talent, and as you say, some athleticism. But UM looked much better able to handle the athleticism of Washington than SJSU did.

That said, there's no shame in losing to them. Again, particularly in a game that was probably more a pain in the ass than anything else for Huse and his staff.

Next weeks game should be interesting as the Griz guards are coming on. I keep waiting for Rush to start to take over games but he hasn't done it yet.

I still think that the Griz are the most talented/balanced team in the league if they would just play to their potential.

MSU better get on a hot shooting streak if they want to make any noise next weekend and in the conference tournament.

I know there are a lot of Will Holden fans out there (I am not one due to his constant slighting  at every opportunity). Recent example: Sunday's Chronicle feature article on the game. Two pictures with comments - one on the front page "Will Bynum's shot is blocked by SJSU....."; second one on page B2 "SJSU Chris Oakes beats Bobby Howard to a rebound....". How about couching it this way instead: "Cats hold nation's 5th leading scorer (Oliver) to 6 points under average but wasn't enough to win". Why does he have to go out of his way to slight the Cats at every opportunity?

i'd say the proof is in the pudding. you choose to look at some captions and small quotes in the paper. the rest of us look at the non-stop work he does around the clock following our football and basketball team. football coverage has NEVER been as good as it's been will will doing it. if he really wanted to "slight" the cats he could do a half-assed job. just enough to not get fired but not nearly as much as he does now. his job is to be objective and i think he does that very well. again, it seems like fans feel their entitled to belittle coaches, players, teams, and now reporters...yet if reporters do something as minor as posting a pic in which a cat player is getting blocked it's a big deal.

"Minor as posting a pic is one thing - two pics with two slights is enough to prove my point. Case closed on my end - as I've stated I know there are a lot of supporters of his; I'm just not one.

Seems to me that cheerleaders carry pompoms. Reporters carry note pads.

well, we lost to a team we should have killed. we lost to a team that northern colorado crushed. there weren't many great plays to choose from. and if you follw sports closely, you'll see that often times these reporters will use pictures and captions to represent the outcome of the game. if he posted 2 pictures of the cats doing something great (if he could find one) then that would be misleading. fact is, the cats played poorly, and the pictures helped paint that picture for those that couldn't attend the game.
