Shawn reid should be an exciting player for MSU. Brumwell could be the big guy we are missing down low for the next 4 or 5 years.

I saw Brumwell play several times this year and I just can't say that I'm sold on him playing D-1 b-ball. He is a 6'7 (maybe 6'8) true post player with great strength but needs to play close to the basket. He has average jumping ability, is not real quick or agile and has very limited shooting range. Would someone please tell me where he fits in the Big Sky? How many 6-7 centers have been productive in this league? I really hope I'm wrong on him because I would love to see another Northcentral MT recruit play for the Cats. Speaking of MT recruits, has anybody heard where Brumwell's teammate, Corbin Pearson is going? I actually think Pearson probably has more upside at the college level than Brumwell. He is about 6'5 and is a scoring and rebounding machine. He was MVP of the HIT in Havre last weekend as he led the Class C boys past the AA boys in the chipper with something like 30 pts and 23 boards. I realize he is a bit of a 'tweener at 6'5 but the kid can flat out play. I hope Huse doesn't overlook him.

I haven't seen Big Sandy play at all so this is total conjecture on my part. First off-if Big Sandy had two legit D-1 guys I find it unlikely that they would have even been challenged for the Class C title...they were (though they obviously had an excellent team).

My guess (and again I haven't seen the players) is that 6-5" small forwards who can shoot (but maybe can't play defense against D-1 level players???) are not all that rare, whereas 6'8" 240 pound high school kids are very rare. Brumwell won't be asked to score. He'll be asked to get bigger and tougher. He'll be asked to bang on the opponents big guys-and use all five fouls. He'll be asked to get rebounds, and when a skinny 6'0 guard like Glen Dean or Will Cherry comes driving in the lane-he'll be asked to put him into the first row.

Look at this year's Weber team. They had 3 6'8" guys to rotate. Neither of them were big scorers every night-they had Lillard for that-but they got rebounds and made it really really tough to score on them inside.

If there's one thing Bobcat basketball has been missing-it's that inside presence. We need that big guy to do the dirty work inside-instead of dance around the three point line while the rebounds fall to the other team.

That's my theory.
