Worthington Arena set to receive new scoreboard:
On Wednesday, Fields also said that Huse and Binford's home court will be receiving an upgrade. A new set of scoreboards will be installed in time for the start of the 2010-2011 season.
Fields said that the scoreboard was "badly in need of replacement." Difficulties during the 'Cat-Griz game on Jan. 23, where malfunctions with the scoreboard delayed the start of the game, only confirmed those beliefs.
"This project is really neat, I'm excited about it," Fields said. "Anybody that was at the Montana game realizes how necessary it was to make this upgrade."
Fields said the company, Singco, was contracted for the project, which will include replacing the current scoreboard that hangs in the center of Worthington Arena with a video scoreboard. Other improvements during the project will include replacing the shot clocks on the top of the hoops' backboards, new scoreboards in the corners of the arena and LED lights installed around each backboard, which will illuminate when the shot or game clock expires.

Re: NEW SCOREBOARD!
Good news. I remember thinking how awesome the current scoreboard was back when it was new (mainly due to the player point/foul columns), but it is badly outdated now and the frequent technical problems were unacceptable for a Division 1 team.

I think this is the correct SignCo. If so, here's a sample from their website. No more burned out light bulbs!

That will be cool ... so it looks like it's the kind of thing that can be programmed to do most anything, which really makes it fun to play with.

Re: NEW SCOREBOARD!
The process has already begun. The old scoreboard has been taken apart and new scoreboard is going up on the existing frame. It looks to be pretty nice......then again anything is nicer than what was in there.longhorn_22 wrote:Anyone know when this will get started?

Cool deal. I was just curious because I went to a concert last week and it didn't appear like it was started yet. But good to hear!BearCat wrote:The process has already begun. I think it was the day after the Brad Paisley concert that they lowered the board to the floor and were rebuilding it.longhorn_22 wrote:Cool deal. I was just curious because I went to a concert last week and it didn't appear like it was started yet. But good to hear!

You were wise not to name which concert you attended.longhorn_22 wrote:Cool deal. I was just curious because I went to a concert last week and it didn't appear like it was started yet. Not sure if this will work to show it or not.

Looks pretty nice, can't wait for the first games.

Re: NEW SCOREBOARD!
Not quite as good as the first picture posted. Does not look like it has video on it. But anything is better than the old one.
