or you don't take the first swing with cops around and then you listen to the cops when they are talking to you and telling you to stop and calm down.

In an ideal world, that would be great,and I agree. However, unfortunately I've witnessed a few bar and street fights over the years and have never seen anyone act rationally in a fight even when cops show up. Cops are trained to be able to take that stuff without losing cool or getting scared. They deal with angry and intoxicated people all the time. This was overreaction and it isn't the first time. Cop didn't come on the scene until after the fight was in progress.

So cop takes first guy down, second guy jumps on cop to pull him off his friend. I am sorry, but at that point they both get arrested. I have been around those situations too. Being drunk is not an excuse for being stupid, even if the cop is being an ass. You can't touch them, sorry. You might not listen, might not shut your mouth, might not leave, but then you suffer the consequences. It's ok to jump in and help your friend in the initial fight, but he should have been getting him out of their before the cops showed up not after they are on top of him.

So your stand is the cops should have stood around and watched and enjoyed the fight?

And if I walk up to you, start cussing you up and down, clenching my fists, looking like I'm ready to knock you in the head....and you're going to stand there and wait to see what happens? Been punched too much in the head already? I'm sorry, but I get called, it seems I have the legal duty (kind of comes with the job and the swearing in and stuff) to stop a crime in progress. And I have the authority to use force to enforce that. And if you don't listen to direction, particularly if you're a threat to me or someone else, you deserve what's coming to you. I don't care whether you're a basketball player or a homeless derelict; white, black, purple or any color. Nice how you jump to the racism thing. Cool.

Here is the question... When a man that is 6'0" tall is already in cuffs and there is an abundance of cops... WHAT NEED IS THERE TO TASE HIM? I would say that this is an unecessary use of force. And probably why these two guys didn't get more tickets or in much more trouble. I mean look at the facts, and where is the alleged other fighter? They don't know! By all means if Navarre was loud and obnoxious put him in cuffs, but absolutely no need to be tased. And the cop even said Bynum was trying to help his friend from being thrown around by cops. That is in the paper. Now what Bynum did could have been a felony. Yet for some reason these cops want this to just blow away because they don't want to have to answer for their own actions. Should they both have been arrested? Yes but how it was handled there should be some other reprecussions... (sp).
