Lady Cat vs Griz Round 2

Great game even though we lost by 1.

The Lady Griz players are starting to heat up on the offensive end and made some key shots. It seemed to me that the Cats just went a little cold in their shooting tonight and weren't getting the rolls like they have in previous games.

Great effort by both teams and the second half of the conference is going to be very interesting.

Too many turnovers. Quite a few of them unforced. Both teams played hard. That is one they let get away. I still like their changes to win the Big Sky.

I agree, too many TO's- need to take care of the ball. Go Cats!!

Looked like they were running in quick sand. The lack of depth really showed up in this one.

A nice win streak by this team-I hope they can find a second wind.

I agree...they run themselves into the ground the first 10 minutes and then have a lull while they get their second wind. Meanwhile the Griz just keep sending big people to the boards and wear them down. We had a 17 point lead in Missoula at the half and won by 3...we had a 7 point lead at home and lost by one!

I'm generally a huge fan of Binford, and I believe she's done a great job....especially this year. But she kind of screwed up in using all our timeouts....would have been nice to have one left for that final possession. Maybe we could have at least gotten a shot off before the buzzer then....5 seconds should have been plenty of time. UM is a good team, and seems to finally be getting things together, but we definitely let that one get away. We barely held on to a 17-point 2nd half lead in Missoula, and couldn't hold on to an 18-point 1st half lead in this one. The Griz did a much better job defending Semanksy this time, which may have been the single biggest difference between this game and the 1st one IMHO. Still though, the 10 game winning streak was very impressive, and they were probably due to have a game when they weren't firing on all cylinders. I'm really anxious to see how they do from here on out....it would be cool if they could win the BSC and host the tourney.

Tough loss, but it was probably coming at some point. I suspect that there will be a third Cat/Griz meeting in the women's tournament. The MSU @ UNC game will be huge and could well determine the host of the tournament - also MSU doesn't play EWU until the last two weeks of the season, for some reason - probably the same sound reasoning the BSC used to put both Cat/Griz games within 7 days of each other.

She mentioned that in the presser afterward... and all of them (Selvig, Semansky, Binford) mentioned the effort on the Pride of Highwood this time around. http://www.bozemandailychronicle.com/ap ... ts/?p=7854

Agreed. To many cross court passes and lobs from the top of the key to the low post.

An amazing win! I don't think I've seen the LG so concerted on the defensive side like that for quite some time; sure glad it was there since all of it was needed. You can easily ride Rachel Semansky the rest of the season into the BSC Tournament and hopefully you win all the rest of your games until then. She is really a tough nut to crack when she gets the ball under the boards. Putting the clamps on Lyndi Seidensticker was huge as well. What ever happened to Ashley Hebert and Ally Schmitt? When you get Banis back @ 100 % next year and with Durham and Elliott coming in you're going to be a much tougher team to beat. Wish ya luck!!!

About time we finally get some competition out of you guys.

I'm guessing that you were actually referring to Ashley Albert (not Hebert)? I believe that both Albert and Schmitt are also injured and lost for the season.

Ashley Albert is out for the season with an ACL tear. She was lost before the season even started. Ally Schmitt was suspended indefinitely for violations of team rules. I'm not sure if or when she's coming back. It's still amazing how well this team has done with as few healthy players as they've had.

Yeah, Ashley Albert was who I was thinking about; I was thinking that the LG missed a good one there since she was relatively closer to Missoula than Bozeman being from Hamilton and that the LG needed some height on their frontcourt. Hope she fully recovers from her injury. I hate it when a sports career, even of a rival, is curtailed or closed out due to injury. I'd much rather defeat an opponent when they're 100 % injury free, personnel wise.

There is still a lot of season left and those 8 players are playing a lot of minutes. It will begin to wear on them it always does in a way it is nice they have the two griz games out of the way and they have some nice home stands coming up.
