MSU at ISU

Post by TomCat88 » Thu Feb 17, 2011 7:13 pm

A big game. They all are the rest ofthe way I guess. From the sounds of it these two play similar games so it will probably come down to execution. Be nice to get off to a good start. That hasn't happened for a while.

MSU 27
ISU 22

7:30 left in first half.

A little bit of a hack fest 3 MSU players and 3 ISU players all have 2 fouls.

ISU has been hitting a ton of threes to keep them in this game.

ISU up 38-37. Halftime. Up and down, back and forth game. It's going to be tough on our team's legs with only 8 players.

What's the foul situation like now. bpcats said three players on each team had two with 7 to go.

Don't know-watching mostly without sound. Wheels are coming off down 45-37

I think that Balian, Cole Seidenstecker and someone else all have 2 fouls. Semansky has 3 fouls.

ISU jumps out to a 48- 37 lead to start second half.

MSU is really struggling to get into an offensive flow. ISU has moved one of their players to the outside that Balian or Semansky are guarding which is opening up driving lanes for them.

ISU player picks up 4th foul.

Now ISU 57
MSU 44.

This game is getting ugly. If MSU can get this game close I think they can pull out a win. But only shooting 2-13 in 2nd half.

ISU up 63-46. They're going by threes and we can't hit. ISU allowed to reach and hack on every rebound...we're not allowed to touch them. Regroup for next time.

68-56 5:00

Probably have to win out to have any chance to host the tourney. Not sure if they control their own destiny after this. Two bad losses on the road and a sluggish first half vs. SSU in the last three games. Doesn't bode well.

74-65 final. Semansky 23-7 rbds, Bussey 12, Seidensticker 11. Balian 9 pts, 12 rbds. Bus & Stick (copyright Tom Schulz) were a combined 7-32 FG, 5-20 3pt. That's not good at all. Those two can't have shooting slumps like they have been. In my opinion, MSU needs to win at least half of final four to have a shot at hosting. Peaking too soon this year might have been bad, and as I've said, eventually only having a seven-player rotation is going to catch up. I don't know what it is, but I know having an extra couple days to figure it out or at least rest (five games in two weeks) will do this team some good.

I think it's asking too much to win a regular season title with so little depth. You can see it with this team-once they lose their legs the shots stop falling and they're a step slow on defense. It's easier to overcome at home but nearly impossible on the road. For me everything this team accomplishes is gravy and you can bet that nobody wants to play us in the tournament-no matter where it ends up.

First place would really help in the Presidents Cup
