0 for Montana

Post by BelgradeBobcat » Sat Feb 26, 2011 10:00 pm

Both the griz men and women lose, the MSU women lose...and barring a miracle outcome in Portland where the MSU men suddenly learn how to make a basket-that will be a loss too.

Other than the MSU men's team losing this is really improbable. How is it even possible for the griz men to lose to EWU? The size discrepancy alone in that game was incredible-from the players all the way to the coaching staff! How does a team beat UCLA at Pauley Pavilion and lose to EWU in the same season?

The Big Sky is one weird league.

I think the Lady Griz are suffering a little bit of a let down. They have a lot talent on that roster but their team is fairly young.

MSU Ladies team - we are missing Albert, and Banis pretty badly right now, if for nothing else to keep Balian and Semansky fresh. Our point guard play is pretty good considering its Coles and Adams first year leading a college team but we lost a little bit there from last year. It coming to that point in the season where the team needs to put together complete games and they are putting together a complete half.

Griz Men - right now they are a two man team with Cherry and Qvale. Selvig can sometimes step up. Nobody else on their team is very consistent. When the supporting cast gets in the groove they are dangerous.

Even that is debatable. UM has gone 4-4 since the Cherry injury. They had won 11 of 12 prior to that. Other than his big night vs. PSU (24 pts, 10 assists) he's only averaging 5 ppg on 8 of 29 shooting, including 2 of 17 3-pt shooting. Around 30 and 12 percent. He's playing a lot of minutes though, so I wonder just what's up there. Lingering effects of the injury or teams are figuring him out or he's just slumping?

As for the MSU women it's seems like they're wearing down. As well as they played defensively for three halves vs. EWU and PSU (outscored them by 26 pts) to have a defensive letdown like last night is telling. Free throw shooting is also an indicator. 10 for 18 in the second half. Then again maybe it was just a glitch. Tough road trip coming up, so we'll see.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

I, for one, am not giving up on the Bobcat women's team. They have character, guts, desire.....and "True Grit" 8)
