Complete and total meltdown when the 'Cats had this playoff game won. Pathetic!

Did you notice when we were up by 16, coach started "running clock" instead of running offense? I knew right then we would probably lose.
This has really been a rather miserable season all in all. We deserve much, much better than this. Oh well, let's get ready for spring practice and maybe the ladies will stay alive.

To call that effort pathetic is shortsighted and absolutely unintelligent. If anything, I'd call you pathetic.

What? You didn't expect this team to hold that lead did you? I sure didn't. This team has blown more double figure leads than any other in the country-mostly in the non-conference season, but they got back to form late against PSU and NAU.
Good bye 2010-11 season-thank goodness it's over. There's a good chance we'll be picked to finish dead last next season.

Even the NAU announcers commented on how that was a bit premature... Keep the pedal to the metal against a team like NAU. They can shoot their way back into games, and that's exactly what they did. When the cats O went into that run out the clock mode, all it did was throw their offense completely out of sync and give NAU the opportunity they needed to get back in the game.
Wow... tough loss..

Let's take away basketball next year. Everyone signs a petition to get it revoked, and we all get to line up and throw tomatoes at the current team. That will show them.
That loss certainly hurt, but to ALREADY throw in the towel for next year is sad. This, woe is me BS is getting old. It was a bad year, but I look forward to next year, like I always do, and always will. I will always support the CATS, through thick and thin. I implore you to do the same.

Good for you. You'll have your pick of any seat in the Fieldhouse.
What's our Big Sky tournament record in the last ten years? Is there any reason to be optimistic for next season? Any reason at all? Sorry guys-but it aint going to happen. More power to you to keep following this team, but gird yourself for a long disappointing haul. I'm going to find something else to do.

I am sorry but I grew up on big east basketball. We need to get much better! Coach Huse needs to get this program fired up. That field house needs to get filled up every game. It won't happen unless this coach produces a team that gets people excited. So far it hasn't happend~! We need an honest appraisal of this program and let the chips fall where they may lie.
Mediocrity is not the answer!

As an outsider, I guess I fall somewhere in the middle of Belgrade and h8er. To me, this was a surprisingly poor season for MSU, but I also don't think it was anywhere near as bad as Belgrade seems to think. That said, I will agree that I don't see a lot for anyone to get excited about next season. It will almost certainly be a growing year.

I probably shouldn't post anything after watching them BLOW A 16 POINT LEAD IN LESS THAN 9 MINUTES to go one and done in yet another Big Sky tournament.
My level of disgust is at an all time high with this program. Why isn't there more outrage? Because most everybody else quit pay attention a long time ago. I'll be joining them. I can assure you of one thing-if Weber State or Montana just had the season we had their coach would out of there-right, wrong, or otherwise that is a fact.

I think this season highlights that unless you have an athletic big man in the middle like Divaldo Mbunga that you can rely on then you are not going to do anything in this conference.
The only players on the team that I thought played well most games were Singleton and Rush. Howard does a good job when he didn't force anything.
Cody made huge strides but playing on a bum knee didn't help. I was also hoping that Tre Johnson would develop a little faster, but getting into early foul trouble really limited him. He flashes a ton of ability down low, but will need to develop 15ft jump shot to real help the Cats.
While I don't like how the season went, I do think that Huse can turn it around. I like the type of players that he has brought in like McCall, Johnson (Talley even though that didn't work out)Budinich. They just need to develop some consistency.

BB, i don't know why you are so upset. me and you have been saying for months that this team just didn't have the talent. i was called several names by more than one poster for suggesting as much. not to mention the pm's i recieved because i dare said the cats were not good this year. i'm sorry but they weren't. it was one of the least talented teams i recall msu having. are all the guys on the team better than myself? of course. i say that because in some of those pm's i was called out for just being a jealous guy who never could make it so i'm taking my anger out on this team.

give me a break. of course the guys are better than me. but if our only barometer for success is being better than a guy nearing his forties....our problems are worse than even i thought!
bottom line is this season went exactly how i thought it would. we had a team of very nice guys who tried really hard. more of them than not should never have suited up for a division one team. of course, OUR division one team is regularly really bad, so if there was a D1 for these guys....msu is it. i still find it so funny that people constantly are so hard on the football team and that is fine, but if you dare speak out against the hoops team you get blasted. they are like that little brother that might be a little retarded, so you can't dare say anything bad about him. but you can say anything about the other brother with no regard to his feelings. bottom line is i treat all my favorite teams the same. if they are bad i say as much. doesn't mean i don't support the team. doesn't mean i'm jealous. all i am is a fan that wants so bad for this team to have some success. pretty much every team in the league besides isu and sac have had decent success and represented the big sky since the last time the cats did. i don't know about all of you, but i would prefer to not be in the same company as isu and sac! but we are....and you're kidding yourself if you don't think so.
here's a prediction as well as a wish i guess.... first, the cats won't be picked last and i'll bet anyone whatever they want on that. we actually will have more talent next year than we did this year. we will be bad because we'll be young and inexperienced....but no way we are picked last. and second, if we don't see SOMETHING from huse by next season we need to try again. i like the guy. but if he doesn't do something about his recruiting we will be in this position year after year. losing sprinks was more devastating than most know. but there is only so much of this a fanbase can take. there is no reason why we can't at leat COMPETE for conference titles. we are no better than we were with durham, and in some cases i think we are worse. at the very least huse needs to assemble a staff that knows how to recruit or he's gone.
i'm glad this season is over. it was hard to watch, and i'm tired of getting blasted for my opinions on this team. i have noticed that the poster that called me clueless weeks ago hasn't been back to eat his words. shocking....
next year is a new year!

Although I agree with all of you, be careful what you say or mslacat will get all over your butts.
Sad part is we very likely could be worse next year with what we loose versus what we have coming back or have red-shirted. Better be a Class A ,No 1 recruiting year.
I said we needed a change at the end of last year and the start of this season. But "The Cat" says I.m to critical and not a true fan. And he's God you know.

It's the way we lost. I fully expected us to lose last night and if we had gotten blown out by 20 like I expected, I would have accepted it. I doubt I would have even commented. But blowing that 16 point lead in what seemed like a matter of seconds (I don't think I've ever seen a team blow a lead that big that fast) put me over the edge. I do feel sorry for the players and Huse because that loss is going to eat at them for a long, long time. It's a very cruel way for our seniors to go out.
I should never have followed the game or watched the second half, and I shouldn't have posted right afterwards. Heck I probably shouldn't be posting now...I'm still pissed off.

bpcats are you serious? Singleton one of the most consistent players for the cats this year!! He is probably in the bottom two or three point guards in the league. Poor shooter from the outside, can't do anything with the ball when he does get inside, and how many just stupid turnover's did he have this year? If I were to evaluate the cats weaknesses this season, first would be the lack of a big man and any inside scoring threat, and next would the poor play at point guard. Granted it sounded like he had a decent game last night, but those game were few and far between. He can't score when he penetrates and does a very poor job of kicking the ball out when he does get in the paint!

singleton most definitely needs to improve some of his in-game decision making. particularly when he goes to the basket with no where to go and opts to throw up garbage shots that almost never go in! but to be fair, he was still in the top 5 in the conference in turnover to assist ratio. and this was on maybe the poorest shooting team in the league, so assists were few and far between. now, this isn't saying a ton because as a whole the guards in this league are a little down this year. but all in all i think singleton does a good job out there. point is probably the most difficult job on the floor anyway, but it is nearly impossible when you have zero post play, and poor shooters on the outside. all in all it was a pretty dissapointing season and it sucks guys like rush, howard, and piepoli had to go out like that. i wish them the best and thank all of them for their contributions along the way. hope they had a blast playing D1 hoops....even if the seasons didn't always go how we all hoped they would.

I am curious how WSU is so good almost every year. Almost every other BSC team is up and down but WSU never seems to have a down year. Why is that? What is different about their program from ours?

I've wondered that too. The LDS factor? That state has a lot of churches and every church has a gym in it-nicer than most Class C gyms in Montana. Heck, the LDS church here in Belgrade has a nicer gym than most Class C schools. Basketball is huge in Utah. Morman families have lots of kids-thus lots of basketball players. What is the average age of Weber's players? I'm guessing several have completed Morman missions and so are few years older? And of course Dee Events Center is best arena in the Big Sky by a long ways-that helps them recruit extra pieces to the puzzle. That's my guess.

to be honest, it seems like several schools don't really have down years. weber and um come to mind....with nau not far behind. i don't think it is as much what weber is doing right....but what msu is doing wrong. i would say that in the last 10-15 years the griz are actually the cream of the crop. 2 schools, same state, and yet one has been doing very well and making the big dance regularly...and the other hasn't been there in 15 years.....
