Great job by Will with his sit-down with Coach Huse.
For as tough as last year, we could have used a player like Stewart who appears to be the type of player we were missing last year that could just make a shot. It seemed like our whole team went cold for parts of last year and only started to show what they could do at the end of the season.
Stewart has a very good mid range game. He is equally comfortable squaring up and shooting the ball, has no problems with fade aways, a descent runner and can obviously sky for the jam. He does get a little out of control sometimes with the ball as he drives, but he has the ability to rise up quickly and high in the air to get his shot off.
Between Stewart, Blount, and Reid we have three interchangeable players at the two spot. With Allou, Johnson and Budinich we have two guys that can flat out jump and a natural scorer at forward position.
The Cats will definitely be athletic next year. Biggest question may be developing some depth at PG after Singleton. Should be a good battle between McCall and Tor Anderson for that duty.
Biggest obstacle could the team coming together as a unit. They seemed to struggle last year with how young they were and hopefully even with the roster turnover they can get it figured out.
Sounds like once recruiting is done that Coach Huse has it already figured out who our new assistant coach will be.

There's another transfer -- Mohammed Fall. Two JC second team All-Americas and Fall. Not a bad trio, but they'll need to build some cohesiveness along with the guys still in the fold. Hope springs eternal.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Does Huse have any high school seniors coming in? I think we definitely need the immediate help but what about going forward?

There are no high school seniors currently in this class only the three JC's. I think he is looking first at JC point guards, and big men. The coaches seem to also be involved with a few high school point guards who I think they will take if find a high quality JC (I really think they are waiting for California JC player of the year Antonio Biglow to make his decision before offering other points). At the big man spot just a guess but I think if they can not get their #1 or 2 JC pick the will continue to look at the JC for a Jordain Allou kind of pick up. At the piont if they do not get their top 1-3 pick then I could see them looking at the high school ranks.technoCat wrote:Does Huse have any high school seniors coming in? I think on the point guard front we return Singleton as a starter, but the coaches feel McCall, and Tor Anderson gives then back up options at the point, not to mention incoming Jamie Stewart can play the point also, so they do not need to get a JC their for the sake of getting a JC.
Interesting enough a lot of the high school prospects the coaches are looking at seem to be 5th year senior who graduated last year from high school but for one reason or another attended a "Prep school" last year playing against JC level competition. These guys would come in 5 years to play 4 but a little more experience playing against college level competition.
