Chris McCall???
Thought this deserved its own thread- Apparently he is no longer with the team because of academics. Wasn't he one of our better younger players on the team? I know he got a lot of minutes last year as a freshman? Does anyone have any more info.....

Re: Chris McCall???
He won't be playing as far as academics. I think he had a game high 10 points last year. As an incoming freshman he may have been one of the most athletic players that Huse recruited. Just seems like the whole bobcat roster has been completely reshuffled.

Re: Chris McCall???
I have heard a few rumors but none confirmed. McCall was considered to be the gem of last years recruiting class. He decent freshman year and the coaches were high on him down the road. My understanding is that his academics were so bad that he could not come back to MSU next, it was more than an NCAA thing. I also heard that the coaches were trying to get him in a JC and there was a possibility that he could bounce back. That said though It is said the coaches were extremely frustrated (saying it politely) with what he did second semester academically so that bridge might have been burned. McCall would have gotten a fair amount of playing time next year at both guard spots as well as some at the small forward.
All that said the real standout among the freshman class this year was Shawn Reid who will be an all conference player down the road. Tre Johnson also has unreal potential and could be our startiing power forward next year. With all the athleticism we added this year is only going to play to his strong suit.

mslacat: How good do you think we can be next year? You can tell that the fans are getting frustrated and that a couple of months ago nexts years team looked to be even worse. Now we have a good recruiting class and there is some optimism. Are we a year away, 2 years away or can we compete for a BSC title next year???mslacat wrote:I have heard a few rumors but none confirmed. Been wondering that myself gtapp. I kind of get the feeling that with all of the JC guys we signed this year that Huse is feeling the growing frustration and feels like he needs to win now.

Re: Chris McCall???
I don't think we can do much worse than what we did last year overall. Lots of room for improvement.
We were
8th in scoring offense
6th in scoring defense
9th in free throw percentage
7th in field goal percentage
8th in field goal percentage defense
7th in 3 point FG percentage
8th in 3 point FG percentage defense
8th in rebounding margin
9th in blocked shots
Only thing we did well was in assist to turnover ratio. Other than that we couldn't defend or make shots. Only way to go is up.
