On 6/14/2022, MSU announced the signing of Mike Dison a prep standout 5-9 guard from Spring, Tx. Is he on the squad this year?

Quick favor, will you check the Powerball numbers for 10/26/2011 and send them to me privately? Bobcat Stadium will get another round of remodeling done very soon if you could just do me that one small favor!

Sounds like a promising player for us. He comes all the way from Texas. I can't help but wonder...how the heck did we get him?

Damn that's pretty impressive. Any chance he plays right away?
I'm more excited about this year than last yea by far. Could be a lot of fun to watch.
*I also think this year will save Huse's job for awhile...

Last Spring coach Starr (I am unclear whether Huse was also there) in the March evaluation period coach Starr was invited a work out / pick-up game / evaluation period for some Houston area high school and prep player that a handful of local coaches put on for unsigned D-1 players. Montana State was the only D-1 school that showed up, quite a few JC coaches were also there. The MSU coaches found a few player they liked including Dison and started to recruit them late. The coaches were hoping to find a point guard to replace Trujeque but were also looking at some shooting guards. After some late recruiting they focused in on Dison, and eventually signed him.
Dison had originally signed or committed (I am not sure which) to a local Texas JC (I am too lazy to look up which one). In talking to Huse they really felt they got a player who was very over looked, because his team had so many very good players. he averaged 18 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals a game while shooting 44% from the field, 39% from 3 point range and 79% from the charity strip. Dekaney high school has two highly recruited juniors on the team and they have received a lot of the attention from college coaches. Dison was originally told when he signed that he would most likely red shirt this year. With Biglow not joining the team until January that idea was scrapped.
Boy he had a nice coming out party, but it will be a long season.
Look for coach Starr to mine the Texas ranks quite a bit this year (as the football team has pulled out), I know the coaches have been down there quite a bit. Rumor also has it the coaches may have helped a few kids hook up with a few California and Wyoming JC's.

Thanks for the excellent info mslacat. He certainly looks like a player and will mitigate the loss of Biglow. Any chance that he pushes Singleton for a lot of playing time?

I don't think so, Jon. Remember: A) he's a freshman, 2) Singleton is a senior, C) this was just a scrimmage, D) It could happen cause I'm never right about anything I guesstimate.
