Re: Men vs. ISU
Couldn't go tonight-glad I didn't. We lose by one in OT. Rod Singleton is the worst shot clock-late clock managing point guard I've ever seen. He waits too long and ends up have to shoot a desparation shot. He did it at the end-walking the ball up with 10 seconds left. All we could manage was a contested deep three by Singleton. Absolutely terrible defense late in the game ISU scored or were fouled pretty much every time.
The griz will beat us by 20...then we'll be in full on February collapse mode. I can't hardly take it anymore.

MSU loses 87-86 in OT. Sounds like a crazy game. MSU came back from down 20 in the first half but seemed to seize up every time they got a lead. Tough, tough loss - here comes the late season swoon?

Re: Men vs. ISU
I like Singleton, but boy did he have a LOT of late game turnovers that may have been the deciding factor in this game..
Other than that, love the fight this team has showed. Need to get into the conference playoffs. I don't think we would be a fun team to play.

Singleton was a disaster in this game and Cherry is going to eat him alive on Saturday.bpcats wrote:I like Singleton, but boy did he have a LOT of late game turnovers that may have been the deciding factor in this game..

I thought we were for sure in the tournament-now I'm not so sure. At best we'll probably back in and then lose someplace on the road in the opening round...haven't we seen this movie before?

Re: Men vs. ISU
Montana, Weber and NAU left at home. Road games at Sac, UNC, Montana and Fullerton (bracket buster). Very strong possibility based on who we have to play and/or where we have to play them that this team will only win one more game (NAU will probably have given up by the time we have to play them). Tonight's loss is an absolute dagger.

Re: Men vs. ISU
Just got home from the game. That was totally gut wrenching. A five point lead in the last two minutes of regulation and a four point lead in overtime, and somehow we blew both leads. Singleton with 3 straight turnovers at the end of overtime killed us. And Kenny Mcgowan ate us alive! There is no doubt ISU is hot right now, but we should have won. Missed free throws, and damned turnovers screwed us. I hope we can recover from this, but two straight losses does not bode well for us I think.

Re: Men vs. ISU
This MSU team is SO volatile, SO much of a roller coaster ride, So unpredictable. Yes, I expect that Cherry will score about 30 and the Griz will win by at least 20. However, I would not take that to the bank. The Cats are simply too hard to figure.
I'll be at the game prepared to cheer at my loudest, but I am expecting the worst and hoping for the best.

Re: Men vs. ISU
I'm just not sure what to think of this game. I didn't come away from it too unhappy, but disappointed. The first half was just miserable. It looked like we were going to lose big and I was just about to start singing the February blues. (To be quite honest, I think the way that the Bobcats play in February is why I don't like this month. Or maybe it's Valentine's Day. Either one.
) I was really impressed with the Cats' play in the second half. They fought back and really did a nice job forcing overtime and even taking a lead. Moon and Blount had nice games and the balanced scoring effort was nice, getting 10 each from Singleton and Allou. However, I don't think Singleton should be taking that final shot. Moon and Blount are just better shooters, and Tre Johnson almost nailed the tip with 0.1 seconds left. (I thought it was great how the refs grabbed the Big Sky TV laptop and took a look at that. NOTE TO BIG SKY-REPLAY WORKS!!!) I'd be quite ticked off after watching the Cats lose at home to Idaho State, but that's a team that is playing quite well right now. McGowen and Grabau are really strong players. I've got to hand some accolades to Idaho State. They were dead in the water and they fought back.
Now it's on to the Griz. I have my doubts, but I'm still feeling decent about the Bobcats' chances Saturday.

Hope you are correct. Who is this years Damako on the wing, Fellows feeding Hampton and Hampton hitting Damako? There's three kids on this team that can shoot like Damako...maybe better but won't get a chance.

Re: Men vs. ISU
I might be a little young to help with too many Fellows, Hampton, and Domako references. I was 2 years old during their peak years, but I wouldn't be surprised if I was at those games. I think Jeff Budinich could be a Domako-type player. He's a tall guy and he can hit the three quite well. He hit a couple of big shots tonight. We need a point guard to feed (I think Dison could step in here) and Shawn Reed and Tre Johnson to take some scoring both inside and out. Budinich gets thrown into an unfortunate position. Huse wants him to go inside and seems really mad when he shoots 3 pointers. A 6'10" guy who can hit from long distance is a great weapon. It's like having a good hitting pitcher in a baseball lineup: nobody expects it. It worked for Branden Johnson. I think we have a lot of good young players, but there's still something lacking.Cat Grad wrote:bozbobcat wrote:I'm just not sure what to think of this game. I've said it before and I'll say it again. What's lacking is Huse and his leadership ability. Again, walking off the court...abandoning his coaches and his players while it was still being decided if there was still time left on the clock. I was disgusted. Not the first time I've seen that kind of poor leadership from him and i hope that he gets a good talking to tomorrow.
Sincerely, Avid Griz & Bobcat Fan!

Re: Men vs. ISU
How about ISU's interim head coach. He took over a complete train wreck just before mid-season and has turned them into a winner. He didn't need 5 seasons to recruit his guys-and all those other excuses we get hear week after week. He took what he had and got them playing well. Coaches make a difference.bozbobcat wrote: I'd be quite ticked off after watching the Cats lose at home to Idaho State, but that's a team that is playing quite well right now. Re: Men vs. ISU
The result was wrong, but it was a fun and exciting game. Some years it looks like the team gives up, but you can tell that this team hasn't given up.
I wasn't impressed with either point guard last night. The box score says Singleton actually put up 10 points, so I guess he scored more than usual, but he was a turnover machine. Dison wasn't his usual explosive self. I still think he should have gotten more time just based on the fact that his play wasn't hurting the team.
Has Moon ever played point guard?

Martin has to be the coach of the year in the Big Sky right now. The difference in ISU two months ago compared to today is incredible.BelgradeBobcat wrote:How about ISU's interim head coach. I agree. ISU should get rid of that interim tag right away (maybe they have?)jon wrote:Martin has to be the coach of the year in the Big Sky right now.
