Vindictive Scheduling

Post by duelalumnicat » Sat Feb 04, 2012 5:55 pm

Is it just me, or does Commissioner Fullerton screw the Bobcats over (men and women) every chance he gets when it comes to scheduling?

The women got screwed over even worse. They were playing on Saturday afternoon coming off a Thursday night ROAD game. Whoever is in charge at the BSC needs to get a clue.

With the weird number of teams there's always going to be scheduling issues. Fans on griz were whining about their schedule, as im sure other teams are as well.

Lady griz have turn around and play isu mon or tues....that game will be no picnic.

Vindictive Scheduling

Yep, it's bad for everyone. LG play ISU Monday, and the Griz men play 4 times this week and ate in the middle of six of seven on the road.

We're all here 'cause we ain't all there.

The odd team schedule is a nightmare for everyone. I wonder if this can be somewhat fixed next season with the new teams? Would it work to play one team only once-so they could get back to having a more even schedule? If that doesn't work I think the Big Sky needs to look at adding one non-football playing member (Utah Valley) so we can avoid this. It's just a mess the way it is.

What will be the format next season? I would actually prefer that they play a full round robin, just because it's more fair for everyone, but I don't know if they will want teams to play that many conference games. And as long as there's an odd number of teams, then the scheduling is going to be difficult, whether it's 9 teams or 11, and whether or not they play a full round robin. I really wish the BSC could add one more full member, so that there would be an even number of teams for both BB and FB. I also wish that teams would play 9 conference games in FB, instead of just 8. Teams that needed the money could still schedule 2 play-up games if they wanted to, and teams like MSU and UM could still schedule 6 home games every year, because they can afford not to play a "money" game in the years they had only 4 home conference games. It just seems dumb to me that in some years, some teams may end up scheduling other BSC teams as non-conference games. Why not just have all teams play an extra conference game, especially since non-conference scheduling will be even harder, now that most of the I-AA teams n the west are in the BSC.
