I see that MSUB won the GNAC last night beating Alaska Anchorage. They did it with first year head coach Jamie Stevens who replaced George Pfeifer, now an assistant with the Cats.

I guess if we're searching for a bit of "MSU" basketball success, I'll point out MSU-Northern is also playing for the Frontier Conference Championship Monday night in Havre. A very senior-heavy team that made a deep run in the NAIA tourament last year.

Heck MSU-Northern is almost like Huses older brother - seniors but Juco outside of Tanaka.
Northern tied for conference regular season championship - with UM Western. Talk about the
best player overall in Montana. Brandon Brown @ Western with a boat load of Montana players.
Heck even Sprinkle's former HS coach convinced a former Sprinkle recruit, to transfer to Dillon
Tyler Miller - now 6'6 225 can shoot but defense is what Keller has him doing. Western has gone deeper
than Norther and is going for there third consecutive National Tourney trip.
After playing Utah State tough last season - and beating Southern Utah in Cedar City. This years
UM-Western team could not get one Big SKy team to play them. Heck Great Falls lost by two the
Grizzlies....
Frontier Conference --- Tyler Miller & Hurley, Andy Garland, Brandon Brown and several others could
play for the Cats....
Huse coaching staff with Starr, George P and Carson is a collection of coaches who if the programs changes direction, will be out of work.

I watched the MSUB game vs. Durham's Alaska-Fairbanks team and I would put a lot of money on the Cats destroying MSUB.

I can't believe the players that UMW has. A few could play for the Cats, yes. And I'm still bitter towards the whole Miller situation. Wonder how good he'd be here at MSU if he stayed true to his commitment.

I can't believe any college student would actually want to attend UM-Western.

thats what good coaches can do. say what you want about keller; i know many people think he's an ass. but he's a hell of a coach and he loves his players. he'll go to bat for any of "his" guys any day of the week....but he's not afraid to get in your face and tell you how bad you're messing up either. he's a guy that i think takes a little getting used to, but after you do you have so much respect for him that you play your ass off for him. i can think of a handful of players he's gotten over the years that easily could have played for the cats. that's impressive getting guys like that to play in dillon montana.

Don't kid yourself, Brumwell and Davis would be starting for UM - Western if they went there. This is in now way knock on those two players, they are great kids and bust their butts everyday.

Here is the take on why the Miller kid backout from Dillon folks:
1. When Sprinkle, Orten and Dirden left sent a bad message.
2. Word was Prebie was not highly thought of from his club coach.
3. Kid was 95% set going to Air Force
4. Backed out to late went D2 and played in RMAC. Still wanted to be in Montana, one person
I hear is still close to the kid - Danny Sprinkle and the rest is history.
Also heard Keller rides him and only sophomore (RS) Huse knew this, the kid graduates in
December - off the charts academically.
Folks Brandon Brown is the truely best basketball player in Montana. Ask any coach in the Frontier.
Brown, Garland, Towns, Erickson, Miller, Tanaka and Hurley could definate help almost any Big Sky roster.
Heck the championship game last night in Havre was electric and the Frontier this season have been
sell outs every night in front of 2500-4000 a game.... Really support Montana programs.
I hope Huse fixes the problems he is a good man. His staff sucks and has been a revolving door for years.

i agree. he IS very good. and one of the best players i have seen in the frontier in sometime. but definitely not the best.
i do agree that many of the frontier players he listed could help a big sky team....specifically the cats. but i've been beating that drum for a while and there is really little point.

Are there many Montana kids on the roster for MSU-Billings? How many are starters or key contributors off the bench?

Big 6' 10" kid is from Great Falls don't remember him playing High School. Couple of Big Sky drop downs one from NCU and Eastern Washington.

Oh yeah, I remember that kid. He played for the local Christian high school, which probably explains why you don't remember him. Is he any good?

I've only seen the Jackets play 3 times so I can't comment on the kids talent. Only Montana kid I remember.

Most of the kids on the Billings team were recruited by Pfeiffer.
