If it weren't for bad luck...

Brad Huse would have no luck at all!

Mo Fall won't be back next season. This is a huge blow to the program which can't take many more.

You can drive drunk, use a fake I'd to get in a bar, pee on the street, "argue" with cops, steal stuff, beat people up, etc., but you can't play an organized game that you're on scholarship for or you lose a year. That's just freakin great!

At least it was an honest mistake and he wasn't like Reid who just didn't like it here. It seems like I said that last year that Huse has to make a step forward with this program before it all falls apart with kids leaving and Huse gone after his contract runs out. Although I would have like to have seen what happened with Blount in the tournament...could have been a different story with Reid on fire like he was.

Kind of same thing this year...again. See how the replace go...I do think that he doing a better job of recruiting though...Athletically we can play with the teams in the Big Sky conference...that hasn't always been the case.

http://tinyurl.com/7adhh6k Mohamed Fall won't be back at MSU. Unfortunately, it wasn't his decision or because of something he didn't do. I can't spend any more time trying to do anything but feel bad for Fall. Forget him as an athlete; he's a great kid and human being. He can't be blamed for any of this - and this also blindsided the coaching staff, too.

This was in an article about Fall's suspension.
Notre Dame forward Tim Abromaitis was allowed to play in more exhibition games than he should have been by the school in what would be a redshirt season (2008-09), and the punishment handed down was a four-game suspension last fall.

Notre Dame forward Tim Abromaitis will miss the first four games of the regular season because of a misunderstanding over an NCAA rule.

The problem dates to his sophomore year, when he played in two exhibition games at the beginning of the 2008-09 season.

The school appealed to the NCAA and Abromaitis was granted a fifth year of eligibility as long as he sits out the first four regular-season games: Mississippi Valley State (Nov. 12), Detroit (Nov. 14), Sam Houston State (Nov. 16) and Delaware State (Nov. 18).

I hope Huse and Fields keep fighting for Fall. This was an honest mistake, and I've never heard anything bad about Fall's character.

The NCAA is a dictatorship managed by idiotic petty bureaucrats. It is focused solely on making money and protecting its turf. It blindly enforces its archaic and byzantine rules with no consideration of justice or mercy or even common sense. For example, the criminal sentencing guidelines for the State of Montana require that judges impose sentences which hold the offender accountable, and which provide for a punishment commensurate with the nature and degree of harm caused by the offender's crime. In this case, Mohammed Fall did nothing wrong, and his "offense" caused no harm to anybody. So therefore, his "punishment" should be minimal to the point of nonexistence. And I would say the same thing even if he played for the Grizzlies. : )

I agree with you. However, the one thing the NCAA has been consistent with is punishing the little guy to protect it's image. The will do what they can to save face on this and good luck getting them to change. I would hope it does not affect his ability to continue his education because that would really tick me off. Anyone know if he still gets financial assistance for school?

Yes, even though he's ineligible, Huse and fields have said that they'll honor his scholarship next year. Of course, he may try to go to an NAIA school or something to play, but no word on him transferring yet.

I don't want to say there might be a double standard or anything, but the guy from Notre Dame has to sit out the Delaware St. game for doing the same thing. Whereas the guy from Senegal going to MSU loses an entire year. It doesn't seem like the NCAA blindly enforces their rules. Rather, it does so arbitrarily to benefit the big time programs and throws the book at the little guys. Kind of like the US DOJ not charging a single banker for all the fraudulent activities that ruined the economy, but they've got plenty of resources to go after pot growers.
