At some point the football season is going to end and we'll have drop our expectations wayyyyy down for men's basketball.

As per usual, the griz and Weber will be at the top, then it will be a big mess in the middle before a few stragglers at the bottom. Will MSU be in that middle pack or at the bottom? My fearless prediction: MSU will start out better than expected and be in a strong postion at the mid-point of the season. Then the team will pretty much lose everytime out in February and either just miss the Big Sky tournament or back in because a couple of other teams are even worse. If MSU makes it to the Big Sky tournament, they will lose decisively in the first round-more than likely to a team they easily beat in the regular season. Why do I predict that? BECAUSE IT GOES THAT WAY EVERY FREAKIN' SEASON! MSU should trademark "February Swoon" It's more ours than anybody else's. ](*,)

Anybody been to any of the men's practices? Is there any hope? [-o<

I've seen some good athleticism the few times I've watched practice so far. Won't be there for the scrimmage (state high school XC meet), but Brad believes this team is a little more athletic than last year, for what it is worth. The frontcourt is going to be a by-committee approach probably through the non-conference season, but the backcourt is (relatively) stacked at both point and shooting guard. The big question, right now, is will they go small at the four all season (rotation of Blount/Stewart/Flavien Davis/Calen Coleman) or just if they face a smaller four? Biglow, and I've been told this for a while, has the ability and presence to play 35 minutes or more at the point. Egwuonwu is a smaller version of Mohamed Fall from what I've seen so far (honestly, Huse is still smarting over that loss because of the leadership he would have brought this season). What else? The Bobcats shot 549 3-ointers last season. Look for that number to be equaled or surpassed if early-season drills & open court runs are any indication. More as the season nears - Nov. 3 is the first exhibition. Two weeks away.

Sounds like they won't be out-rebounding anybody. Stewart, Blount or Flavian Davis at the 4?

So I take it that Blount isn't in any trouble over the bar IX incident?

My guess (somewhat educated) is that he has to sit the first couple of games this year.

Isn't Cherry supposed to miss some significant time due to injury?

Yes, but UM is that much better than the rest of the conference in MBB. Not that being that much better than everyone else in the Big Sky is saying much.

http://bobcatblog.bozemandailychronicle.com/?p=10963 Blog put together a few days ago. Sorry I forgot to post it. I will get word soon if there is punishment for Blount regarding last season's incident; I believe that is stuff in the past the program won't revisit for obvious reasons.
