The old lights, which were many and hung down from the Fieldhouse roof are gone, replaced by fewer, but much larger lights. It looks like they had to move the National Championship banners as they would be in the way of the new lights. I'm sure the new ones are much more energy efficient and there's a whole lot fewer light bulbs to change. It seems to be a little darker over the court-not sure I like it. Also, if you look right at one of the lights they're pretty blinding. I suppose I'll get used to it.

Anybody else notice the difference?

Here's a photo I took tonight. I wasn't focusing on the lights when I took the picutre. You can see the National Championship banners in the back ground, moved the back of the arena.

I liked them. I thought the lighting was fine but they are blinding when you look directly at them. I also thought the banners looked good in the new spot.

It doesn’t seem like the new lights are attracting many fans…

Gosh. That's terrible to point that out. It takes a long time to prepare for the stroll.

That was also 22 minutes before tip. There was a decent turnout last night, all things considered.

One thing I learned at a pretty early age that I will help you guys with.....don't look directly at a bright light!

Two comments on how bright they are when you look right at them, well duh!!!!

Glad the new lights are nice, hopefully the team playing under them can brighten up the place too!

Your advise is duly noted. I'll keep that in mind when the next total eclipse comes along too.

In my defense, I noticed it when looking up at the scoreboard...but then for some reason I just couldn't look away.

It is a dramatic change. But these days-even dramatic changes related to our basketball program go largly unnoticed.

Maybe ask Santa for some of those eclipse black out glasses. Then you can stare at the light all game long with no ill effect!!

A bonus is you won't see our basketball swirl into obscurity!!

It's like a deer in headlights. Or me when a car with HIDs comes at me from oncoming traffic. I can't look away when they pass by.
