Nice win by the Lady Cats. The new additions to this team are developing quite well. Alexa Dawkins is gaining more confidence each game and her athletic ability is really starting to come out. Kind of a nice surprise considering she is only a freshman. Rechel Carter did a really good job at the point and her defensive ability is nice to have.
Oosdyke was on a tear tonight and couldn't be stopped. Just glad the rest of the UNC team didn't have much of a game.
The depth on the Cats is really starting to show through on these wins. Not so much by tiring other teams out, but providing a ton of options on how and where we get our scoring from. Kalli hits just enough threes to keep defenses honest and opens up the floor for the rest of the squad.
The only surprise from what I expected with this incoming freshman class was that I thought that Jasmine Hommes might play a bigger role as a rotational player, it has been Dawkins instead that has stepped up big.
Going to enjoy each win the lady Cats rack up, because this league is really balanced.

What happend to Chelsea Banis? Is she hurt again? If so, too bad because she is the big body this team really needs to spell Rachelle.

I've been trying to follow the lady Bobcats via paper and radio,I haven't heard anything on freshman Peyton Ferris. She was a standout all 4yrs in high school and was Gatorade player of the year,,I've heard nothing but good things on this kid,but am not reading or hearing anything on her getting any play time? Any one that is able to follow the team closer than what I am know if she is playing at all? Just curious.

Looking at the stats, Ferris has played in 11 of MSU's 14 games and started 4 of them. She is averaging 14 minutes per game, which seems to be pretty good for a freshman on a team with as many experienced players as MSU has. She is struggling a bit with shooting, going 28% from the field and 46% from the line so far. I agree that she and the other freshmen on the team are very promising players, as Binford has done a great job of recruiting.

Since the conference has started the only freshmen to play any substantial minutes are Lexi Dawkins and Lindsey Stockton. Stockton plays some point and is very steady...Dawkins has looked good coming in for Rachel Semansky providing a post offense. Chelsea Banis is supposed to be back maybe in February. I heard she had hip surgery. I would think they will look into a medical redshirt if that is possible and if not bring her back if she is able.

So has there been any John Stockton sightings at the Brick this season?

Ferris started the first five games of the season, but hasn't played in a conference game in three outings. She was playing primarily the 3. With the emerges of senior Latisha Adams — she's averaging 13 ppg in league play — and junior Rechel Carter, Binford has been making a concerted effort to play Adams, Carter and Kalli Durham together. That means Adams is seeing time at the 1, 2 and 3. With junior Emily Allen and sophomore Jackie Elliott splitting starts and time at the 3, Ferris is kind of the odd girl out.
It's a similar situation with freshman Jasmine Hommes. She played quite a bit in the preseason, partly because she's talented, but also partly because she was Rachel Semansky's main back-up with Alexa Dawkins slowed by a knee injury. Since Dawkins has been healthy, she's the one getting minutes a the 4 and 5, backing up Semansky and Ashley Brumwell. Allen has played some at the 4 as well.
Banis has battled injuries throughout her career. The 6-foot-4 center from Fairfield missed the second half of the season two winters ago with a torn MCL. You are correct, Helcat72, it was hip surgery. They think she might be able to make it back by the second round of conference games in a few weeks, but the timetable is still pretty uncertain. Because she redshirted as a freshman, getting a medical redshirt will be very difficult for Banis, and not possible if she does return to action this season.

He was at a preseason exhibition game and at the Northern Arizona game. Craig Ehlo (Jordan's famous shot: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) was also at the Brick a few weeks back. He's an EWU men's assistant.

If you look at the comparative scores to date involving the Lady Cats and lady Griz, the Griz will be the favorites for certain on paper. But we all know they don't play the game on paper.
The Cats are capable of winning but they will need to play solid for 40 minutes--no lapses in defense and box out to prevent them from getting putbacks.
We'll also need to shoot better than we have lately.
Go Cats

I think we can play with the Griz inside....but if it comes down to hitting from the outside...we may be in trouble. When UND went to a tightly packed zone...we had trouble scoring mostly because not many teams have played zone against us, and we don't have too many kids that have confidence from three. I think Selvig will test this out real fast!
We pass the ball inside fairly well, but we tend to rely on Rachel Semansky to do all of the scoring inside. Ashley Brumwell has a good game about 10-12 feet from the basket, but doesn't post up much. We need to not force the ball into Semansky like we do sometimes and get it stolen ...we need to practice the inside out game if they go into a zone...and get into the creases and take 12-16 footers. Most of all we need to not let the Griz out-physical us, play strong and take care of the ball!

So I presume that the Cat-Griz women's game is on Saturday afternoon, with the men playing that night? Are both games being televised on the same channels as in previous years? I checked the Optimum programming guide, but neither game is listed.

As far as I know, and have heard, it is the same setup as last year.

I think Max Media has the TV contract for the games. Whatever station football came on (channel 7 on cable in Bozeman), the basketball games will be on there.
