There are quite a few threads about dumping Huse. I'm wondering is anybody in favor of keeping him?

I'm sure his assistant coaches are all for it.

It's way past time to move on. He should not have received a three year deal in 2010.

It's really hard to predict what Peter Fields priorities are except its obvious basketball isn't on the list. We don't see players in the news for irresponsible behavior and I think they do well in school etc.... It seems to e PF is more concerned with this over winning games, but that's just my observation.

There is so little interest in hoops from PF to fans to students to sponsors I just don't think the pressure is high enough on PF to let him go. Its sad but not many care about MSU basketball anymore. With Huse PF knows what he's getting and he doesn't seem to like taking chances on anything if he isn't forced too.

I tend to think he will be here at least one more year.

Well, he did fire Kramer ... so apparently he isn't totally averse to taking chances. There were quite a few upset people from that.

With the drug issues and everything else going on off the field he didn't have a choice. Kramer had to go. Huse appears to be running a clean program with good student athletes he just doesn't win.

How do you figure that. I'm not calling you out, just curious of how you think it is a good program. Blounts still on the team for being in a fight in a bar and was too big a puss to win said fight. Couldn't tell you the exact number, but there have been kids suspended from the team due to academics, and other players breaking into cars.

I personally think the basketball team has one of the dirtiest reputations on campus and is probably one of the worst in the conference. That's just my opniion.

Clean being current student athletes breaking into cars versus dirty ie. former football players running drugs. Kramer got screwed and you all know it but for some reason (perhaps Ash's win loss record) you are willing to overlook it. If Ash had a similar performance record to Huse, you'd be calling for his head. Durham got thrown under the bus for his underperforming teams but at least he had some successful years.

How do you figure that Blount is a puss? Have you ever been jumped by more than one person before?

This is really soap opera stuff, but, hey, we have a really poor basketball team and spring football is 3 weeks away...

By all eye witness accounts I have heard, Xavier Blount has his clock cleaned by one and only one guy- Roger Trammel. In fact if any body had intervening help it would have been Blount. But, his two teammates, who were also in Bar 9 after a defeat in violation of team rules, and went outside with he and Trammel, took off running once Xavier got hit. Blount then continued to lip off to Trammel who picked him up and threw him down on his shoulder. From witnesses I have spoken to, there was no ganging up on anyone. After he hit the ground Trammel and everyone else quickly walked away, Roger realizing too late that he was endangering his football career. A while later the bouncer was notified and walked outside and discovered a drunk/dazed/injured Blount laying on the back porch.

And why Blount was not kicked off the team after getting drunk in a local bar and picking a fight- I am not sure. The other two players were privately reprimanded with sprints but suited up and played the next game.

And how is it that after breaking into cars Jeff Budinich is still on the team? Odd, because I know Huse is not a fan of his play at all.

I really like coach Huse as a person, but to say that he runs a 'clean' program is being charitable.

To put Huse's possible dismissal in context. First PF will not decide this on his own. I would assume he and Cruszado have already discussed the situation. Ultimately, Wade will consider PF's opinion, but it will be her decision. In an historical view, PF always wanted to fire Kramer; he loathed him. Kramer was always over stepping his bounds, had very little respect for PF and made his life difficult. Huse on the other hand is very respectful of PF. PF obviously knows there is high likelihood he will need to fire Brad, but he's really dreading it. Brad is a great guy with a really nice wife and kids. All the other coaches PF has escorted away from MSU- Kramer, womens volley ball coaches, etc.- I think PF felt really clear that their departure was a good thing. This will be far more murky.

I don't think Fields will have much of a choice. Nobody goes to the games anymore. They have 2 for 1 deals and that sort of thing all the time to try to entice some fans-so basically they're giving the product away. That's not a successful business model. Ultimately, Fields has to balance the books and that can't happen with a completely disinterested fan base. We haven't drawn this poorly since the Rich Juarez era in the 1970's.

Imagine you're the AD, not necessarily Fields, but the AD. Would you hire Huse for the job today knowing what you now know about him?

The reason I ask is that question I just posed is a fairly standard question managers ask themselves when they sit down to do a performance review of an employee.

Every time I read about Huse (or anybody else) being able to "right the ship" I roll my eyes and ask myself if that person was capable of righting the ship, then how and why did they let the ship get off course in the first place?
