Last time I predicted decisive wins by the griz in both games. The MSU women's win was a pleasant surprise, the MSU men's almost win was a real shock.
This time around. MSU's women haven't played in about two weeks (weird scheduling). They've either had time to work out the kinks and learn how to shoot, or they're going to be extremely rusty. I have a bad feeling about this one.
The men's game is really hard to figure. MSU is coming off a surprise win on Thursday against an SUU team that's pretty tough to beat at home. But MSU had a long road trip to get back to Bozeman today. Meanwhile, the griz had Thursday off so they'll be fresher. However they're missing two of their three best players (Ward and Cherry). We all saw how MSU did when we lost two starters (not good). Will the griz struggle as well? They still have Kareem Jamar who MSU couldn't handle in Missoula. My guess is the griz will give it to him and he'll back it down as far as he can and either score or pass it out to wide open outside shooters. I look for it to be fairly close with the Cats running out of gas at the end...and probably shooting sub 40% again.

The Lady Griz, in warmups, just hit 25 of 31 shots from the perimeter, mostly 3s. That was kinda crazy. 17 of the first 20.

Nothing to do with ladies hoops, but I just talked to someone in the know and he told me the focus for facilities is going to be on the weight room and other supportive things for all athletics for the next couple years. Apparently we're quite a ways behind most of the prominent FCS/Big Sky schools in that area.

MSU doing well to just be in this. They didn't play well, especially to start the game, but fortunately for them neither did UM. 30-22 at the half.

That was good effort for MSU. Tricia was acting like she thinks they might be out of "the funk" as she called it. Probably the best they've played since the last time the two teams met. Caught a bad break when that missed FT bounced right back to the shooter and she fed Sullivan for another two. Wnet from up 2 to down 2 in a matter of seconds Hung in til the end. Maybe get it back the last two weeks and make the tourney on a hot streak.

A very nice tribute and moment of silence for Folabi Akanbi prior to the game.

Two fouls on Egwu hurts MSU. Off to a decent start at 7-6 down.
