Altitude Showing NAU at MSU

Post by blgscats » Thu Mar 07, 2013 7:22 pm

Just thought we would post the fact that Altitude is (according to the Dish guide) showing the NAU tonight. We have missed several of these on TV while we listened on the radio...

Didn't know that thanks. Tip off is 8:00 instead of the usual 7 due to the C boys tourney.

Well that's interesting....cause the guide says the game starts at 7. It appears it it is New Mexico State vs. LA Tech, the guide is wrong. Did we lose this T.V game cause of high school ball?

And of course, MSU blows the big lead and is now headed to OT.

So MSU is essentially in the tournament - if they win against Sac State on Saturday, they will be the 4 seed and play #5 UNC in the first round. If they lose, they'll probably be the 6 seed (assuming UM beats NAU) and play UND. With how well UNC has finished off the season, I'm not sure which is the better option!

The Women got their lunch handed to them.....
And the Men, well what can you say about this one. They do show they can put together a run or two and can actually win a game they tried to give away.....Come on Saturday.

The Bobcats played inspired tonight. Hats off to Huse, staff and players. Don't quit on these guys, Bobcat faithful.

NAU looked pretty inspired too. Gabe Rogers makes a three pointer look like a layup-incredible performance. NAU is severly undersized and mostly runs 4 guards. They do a good job stretching the defense all over the place. The difference was NAU had 14 turnovers and MSU only had 8. But it took career nights from Biglow (27 pts), and Eguonuwu (double-double), and Flavian Davis also had a pretty huge game in order to win this thing. Still it took a ballsy three pointer from Christain Moon near the end of regulation to bail us out. Moon hadn't been shooting very good all night, and his next three in OT didn't draw iron, so he picked a good time to finally hit one.

MSU is without Xavier Blount who, it was found yesterday, has a stress fracture in his foot. His season is over. Huse said his foot had been sore for awhile, but I guess it really got bad this week. He's a tough guy and suddenly his numbers were way down-maybe that's why. Tough deal for him. Calen Coleman got most of his minutes tonight, but he's struggling to make anything.

Nice win over a determined opponent who's now lost two in a row in overtime. NAU is scary-their game in Missoula could be interesting if they have any gas left in the tank after this one.

I believe the Bobcats are in. Aren't they? If either NAU or SUU lose, that leaves MSU ahead of them and in. If MSU loses to SSU and both NAU and SUU win there will be a 4-way tie, but they would all be 3-3 vs each other. Since MSU beat WSU it would be the first team in.

Sac would be ahead of us because they will have swept us. We would be ahead of SUU because we swept them. But SUU would be ahead of NAU because they swept them. NAU's win over Montana would be better than our win over Weber, because Montana swept us and Weber didn't. If it comes down to RPI's we're out. So I don't know-it could be a big mess.

Huse was lamenting the fact that his main guys had a lot of minutes tonight and they won't have any time to prepare for Sac. Also, Sac is more physical than NAU. We didn't need Blount tonight against the small, quick, and light NAU, but he will be missed against SAC.

The lone scenario in which Montana State does not get in is if MSU loses to Sac State, Northern Arizona beats Montana and Southern Utah beats North Dakota. If MSU wins, they are in. If they lose and NAU wins, MSU is in. If MSU loses, and UM wins, a SUU loss would give MSU the berth.

ONE WIN AWAY: Bobcat men inch closer to Big Sky tournament berth with OT win over NAU

I think WSU also has to lose in that scenario.
If there's a four-way tie and UM and WSU end up tied for first, then they would go to head-to-head vs. teams in descending order. I would think that with WSU at 24-5 and UM at 22-7 overall and WSU beating UM by 24 and UM only winning by 2 over WSU that WSU would have the higher RPI and be No. 1. Since MSU is only team of the four tied to beat WSU, it would be in. Then the other three go back to a tie-breaker.

It's a mix-n-match of the '86 and '96 teams. Biglow is Tony Hampton, Egwu and Davis together are Quadre Lollis, Moon is Nico Harrison, Colbert is Ray Willis. Coleman (would've been Blount, but he got hurt) is Danny Sullivan. C'mon people work with me on this!!
