Wyoming broke open a close game by shooting 81.3 percent in the second half, cruising past Montana State 79-54 in Laramie on Saturday.
The Bobcats trailed just 37-32 at halftime and led 17 minutes into the opening period, but Wyoming opened the second half with a 16-3 run to take control of the game. Nathan Sobey scored seven of his 11 points in that run for Wyoming, while the Bobcats were 1-for-10 with four turnovers to open the second half.
"They were really disciplined and shot the heck out of the ball," MSU coach Brad Huse said on the Bobcat Radio Network of Wyoming's second half. "They shot 81% in the second half, I don't think I've ever been a part of anything like that. Part of it is they were dunking the ball a lot. They hurt us with threes in the first half, and in the second half they really got to the rim."
Wyoming shot 13-for-16 in the second half, while the Bobcats were 9-for-29. The Cowboys also shot 27 free throws on Saturday, making 19, while MSU was 6-for-10 from the line.
"We were moving the ball well, knocking down the shots that came our way," Huse said of MSU's first half. The Bobcats were 12-for-21 from the floor before the intermission, 5-for-8 from the arc. "At the start of the second half our defense was very average, and their offense was above average. It's frustrating, but we'll learn from it."
Three Bobcats - Paul Egwuonwu, Michael Dison and Terrell Brown - scored nine points each, although no Bobcat cracked double figures. Riley Grabau scored 19 to lead four Cowboys in double-digits.
MSU falls to 2-5 on the season, while the Cowboys are 5-2. The Bobcats host Walla Walla next Saturday at 7 pm.

Wyoming is a very good team though. They barely lost to 7-1 Colorado earlier this year @Colorado.
Out of curiosity, are Biglow and Davis in the doghouse or something?

UNC won by 5 after trailing by 16 at halftime, and being down 59-41 with a little over 7 mins to go in the game.
I know sometimes lopsided FT shooting can be deserved but FFS that type of difference is a bit ridiculous.
Biglow has a bad back. Davis and Egwuonwu are in the dog house. This is what Huse said to me following the Northridge win, a game in which neither senior front court member started:
Egwuonwu and senior forward Flavien Davis didn’t start for the first time this season. Senior guard Antonio Biglow did not suit up because of a back ailment.
“As a team, we have to commit to some things that are important to us,” said Huse, who didn’t elaborate on his decision to bench his senior frontcourt. “We had a great team concept and a good team effort. Our team has to continue to understand that we have a lot of different options and from night to night, those options can change. Sooner we understand that, the better.”
So far so good-Cats have a narrow lead late in the first half.
As BAC said in another thread. It seems our schedule has gotten easier and easier...but the losses are still piling up.
