MBB vs. UM Western-upset alert?

We get our first look at the men's basketball team in an exhibition game against UM Western on Wednesday night. This might be a good opportunity for the Frontier Conference team to get a win. The Cats, as we all know, are undergoing a major rebuilding project with a brand new head coach. UM Western has already played a few games.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new and improved fieldhouse. I'm not so sure I'm looking forward to seeing the basketball team.

Just went and bought my season tix for MBB. I'm not coming in with real high hopes for this season, but Coach Fish has me believing in the program again and I want to support that. I'm really looking forward to my first look at the team tonight just to see what we actually have for this year.

I got ours a couple weeks ago. My wife wasn't too big on the idea with how good they're supposed to be this year. But I told her that we've gotta get in on the ground floor of future success, ya know, support them before they're good. I'm excited for things to come in the next couple years!

Also excited to check out the renovations in the brick.

At the under 12, Montana State is clinging to a 49-48 lead. Bobcats are shooting just 37 percent. Mike Dison and Zach Green lead the scoring with 10 each. Western has 13 offensive rebounds and a 32-27 edge on the glass all told.

Well...I've seen much better Bobcat basketball teams than this one struggle against Frontier teams early in the season so it was nice to see this team run away and hide from UM-Western in the last 10 minutes.

Colbert and Dison really took things over-Dison got hot in the second half. Robison also got us off to a good start in the second half. He looks much improved and will play a big role this season.

The three freshmen that played are going to be be good basketball players someday, but they're just freshmen and have a ways to go.

Definitely more up tempo-if Fish can bring in the talent his style of play will be vastly more entertaining to watch. Fish is hilarious-coaching his rear-end off-all sweaty. He needs to endorse a dry cleaner.

Really a pretty fun evening.

`Despite winning by 25, the Cats struggled against UM-Western. It was not a pretty basketball game, but a win is a win, and they showed enough discipline to put away a team that they SHOULD put away by 25. 'nuff said about the team. What I did see that bothered me was another Bobcat basketball coach who spends way, way too much time whining, bitching, and yelling at the players. I didn't like his demeanor on the sideline at all. Just too much "]ohn Calipari" type stuff to suit me. Fish needs to tone it down some and show some positive attitude and toss some encouragement toward his players or he's going to lose them. Not impressed....

I will disagree with you. I personally enjoyed watching him on the sideline. He's a teacher. He's got brand new players in a brand new system, and last night, there wasn't all that much to be positive about. Often times there were players out of position on defense, and letting boards go right though their hands in the first half. That sort of stuff needs to be shored up if they're gonna win any games in the Big Sky. This team is SO raw right now, how could you possible think that he is not going to spend the whole game barking from the sidelines?

I agree with A-Frame I thought he had great energy and was positive with the players and encouraging. Hey last year if a guy would have stepped in the key when a teammate was shooting a free throw and cost the team a point that player would have been blasted and never saw the court the rest of the night Coach Fish just told the player to be more aware of where you are on the court. I thought he was great with his players and very personable. I was sitting right across from the team bench and I never saw him be anything but energetic and did he pull players aside and talk to them and correct what they were doing? that is called Coaching. I thought it was great came over early this week for the football weekend and glad I made it to the men's game and going to see the women play Sunday. Great energy and I actually thought I saw some players smile the second half on the bench which is new!!! \:D/

Yeah-I thought he was just coachin' 'em up. The kids appeared to be listening and responding. And there were certainly plenty of moments to make any coach groan. Dison and Colbert really looked like they were having fun. Fish's style certainly fits them better.
