MBB at Idaho

Post by BelgradeBobcat » Fri Feb 26, 2021 6:15 pm

Idaho is winless. MSU is very rusty. It is a road game. Does disaster await?
Idaho comes out red hot and Belo already in foul trouble...call me a negative nellie-but I've got a bad feeling about this.

Kirby is 6'11" so lets throw him passes around his ankles. Geez!

When every team you play bombs away with wide open three pointers it might be a sign that you're not doing something correctly on defense.

I was thinking the same. It feels like we are late to the shooter. Is there a better technique to defense we are missing? Should we be playing more zone?

I don't know. I don't understand it. Sprinkle was almost apologetic last season when we used the zone to sweep Weber. He sees it as a sign of weakness or something. But with Idaho on pace for close to 80 points it's pretty clear that our team is terrible on defense.

It's a miracle we're only down 1 at the half. Idaho has 7 three pointers, we have zero. (One of Idaho's 3's was degraded to a two at the half I guess).

When I coached high school many moons ago, a lot of coaches thought playing zone was “pussy D.” My stance was that I’ll have my team play man when you can beat my zone.

This team looks absolutely awful. Can’t help bring rusty after getting the games canceled again last week, but good hell, we look as sharp as you would expect for a preseason scrimmage. Idaho, a team that hasn’t won a single game all year, seemingly can’t miss, the refs are rapidly trying to foul out Belo and Kirby, and we throw the ball away every other possession.

Yep, it just keeps getting worse and worse. We can't help but make mistake after mistake, they can't miss, and a few iffy calls in a row and we give up a 12-0 run. It's gets depressing after a while.

I don't buy the rusty excuse. This team just isn't that good.

I buy the rust excuse for maybe 5-10 minutes but not after that. I agree, that isn't our biggest problem

Time to put in Madison Jackson.

Bishop is just a walking turnover right now.

Sprinkle going with the three point guards at the same time with Bishop, Hood, and Tynes. We either score a layup or we turn it over or we chuck a brick. I don't think we've made a jump shot this half. We really do look very bad.

The only team I've seen shoot this bad was the Weber State women's team. We have yet to hit a three. A modern day D-1 team without one single three with only 5 minutes left. Incredible.

Why put Gazelas in for Tynes? He was playing well.

Looking at the live stats. Second chance points are 11-0 Idaho. Points off the bench 29-14.

Couldn't get a stop down the stretch. Had many chances

Well that was certainly embarrassing. 74-69, Final. 0-19 Idaho beats the 9-7 cats.

There's no hope for men's basketball at Montana State. Sprinkle can't get it done either.
