Watching women's game and also popped up Weber Gris game. Video Quality send so much better in Weber. Are we just further away or that much poorer cameras. Hype video stuff is always so clear and good. And we have a film and tv school. Any one else notice this

Yes, I notice every game. I suspect the cameras/lenses, and maybe the lighting. Nothing else needed for a good quality picture.

Concur with your comments on video quality based on my limited numbers of games. Just one question…was it the Griz Weber MBB game that had the good video (played in Weber)…….or the the Gris Weber WBB game which was in Grisville last night that had the good video?
Wonder if Bethany Cordell can get feedback to the right group. If I catch her at a game I might mention to her.
In your opinion where are the best video feeds out of (I must admit I don’t watch many away games)?

Well, Northern Arizona with their own network seems to be top-flight. North Dakota, same situation. I watched part of the SUU game last night and thought it was good.
Our sound, as well, has been horribly mushy with Martello, Mackie, and Schulz so I think it’s the hardware and not the humans. Voices fade in and out like the mic is far away, and the crowd noise sometimes pretty well cancels the play-by-play, but maybe that’s just the cancel culture. I did drop a personal note to Mr. Schulz.

The one I commented on was at Weber.

Thanks for calling me in, Del.
We actually do work with our film school on campus to produce our events; Montana PBS actually handles all the camera work for both our in-house show and our ESPN+ stream. They and their students do a great job for us.
The camera lighting on our higher cameras has been an issue on and off over the last few weeks; we're actively working on it!
Thanks,
Bethany Cordell

The lighting/exposure is an issue, says Bethany. I thought it was pretty noticeable, and at least that’s something that is fixable. Cameras are no different than the human eye — they need lots of light to focus sharply and provide good depth of field.
One thing I would mention to the camera operators is that they could definitely tighten the half court shots. There is a lot of crowd showing, and the players are smaller than need be. Let’s see how we look, winning at SUU tonight. I have been to one game there, and the lighting is definitely good. What a nice arena for basketball, but no good at all for track and field or rodeo.
Go, ‘Cats, Go!
