WBB, Title IX and my Mom

Post by JDoub » Wed Feb 09, 2022 10:16 am

So my 87 year old mother is practicing dribbling and shooting for an upcoming Title IX tribute at the Feb. 19 WBB game! She wants to show her skills at the tribute.

She played bball 1952-56 when we were then Montana State College

I love that MSU is doing this tribute - and I must fly up to Bozeman for this!!

My sisters played bball, tennis, track at Bozeman High, taking advantage of Title IX in the 70's-80's. One of my badass sisters played bball for Gonzaga (as well as Rugby) and a teammate of hers was one of the first to bring civil action against the NCAA to enforce Title IX. Much respect

My mom is so proud of her letter sweater, still displays it.

Hope to see a whole bunch of Bobcat fans at that game!

That’s awesome. Thanks for sharing. Hope to see a video of the tribute on social media once it happens!

That's so cool. I'll be applauding your mom. The tribute will be during halftime I assume?

I don't know the details yet - my sister who lives in Bozeman told me last night to fly up, so I booked the flight. I would assume halftime - makes the most sense.

If they promote it I'll update this post

This is awesome. Very cool legacy for women and girls in sports in Montana with your family!

Sounds awesome, should be a good crowd on hand that day as this will be Senior Day for the WBB team!

Your Mom looked great in her MSC sweater. Very cool and deserving honor.

Your mom was amazing out there! My daughter and I gave her a high five and thanked her for being a trailblazer when she came back (she was sitting in the row in front of us). She was super friendly and funny. Glad MSU honored her!

I wish I could have got some decent photos but she was in the other side of the court from me and I was sitting up higher. I loved that she still has her sweater. Great moment!

That was absolutely awesome! It was a nice honor for your mother and she really showed a never quit attitude trying to make that basket.
If she had been able to get some warmup practice shots in before going out there, she would've drained it.

She is still MAD she didn’t make a basket!! And my sister was upset at herself that she didn’t take Mom out to practice!

we are a competitive family

but it was fantastic IMO
