Nothing is more important in conference play than protecting your home court. At least if you hope to compete for a conference championship. EWU came into tonight's game with a 6-17 record, 4-10 in the Big Sky. MSU started out strong but my goodness, as the game went along it seemed to me that there was no defensive intensity. After achieving an 11 point lead in the second half, EWU went on a tear, scoring 33 points in the final quarter. That's downright embarrassing.

Idaho State lost tonight, so that helps. Huge game against Southern Utah Saturday for Senior Day. Better bring the A game rather than what we saw tonight. Too many missed free throws. The team looked tired down the stretch. Hoping for a quick and strong turn around.

The third game in a row we have waned in the fourth quarter….

I know teams get hot…..but my goodness I think I saw EWU shot 75-80% the last quarter. We looked defenseless.

Could it be conditioning due to the strange schedule we have had last few weeks. Seems during strong stretch our depth kept us fresh for fourth quarter. Lately seems opposite. We had four bad possessions and gave up open looks in other end. All of a sudden lead gone in 2 minutes

Eastern played two road games last Thursday and Saturday and then had a home makeup game against the Griz on Monday, so MSU was coming off two extra days of rest last night. It's pretty simple, MSU shot the ball very poorly after their hot start in the 1st quarter and EWU got hot once MSU went cold. Hopefully this is just a blip of three poor 4th quarters in a row after they were having very strong 4th quarters during the long win streak.

Better to get it out of their system now. A win streak in this league seems more like a burden as it gets longer. Maybe it will spur more focus as we go into the Griz game. If not, it seems as though a few of the teams are getting hot recently, and we are getting cold spells during games. We need to re-focus for the home stretch.
This goes for the men's te too.
