WBB at PSU + Monday games
The Bobcats start their 4-game road stretch to end the regular season tonight at winless PSU. Hopefully there's no letdown after the great performance against SUU on Saturday!
One final already today in WBB as Idaho came back from 14 down in the second half to beat UM 70-69. UM now drops into a tie for 5th with Sac State.
On the men's side, SUU at NAU is the big one tonight. UNC also hosts Idaho State, after UNC got upset in Pocatello on Thursday I'm expecting a revenge game and easy win for them tonight.

Yes, quite a comeback for Idaho... Wondering if this will somewhat affect the gris down the stretch? Even for just a couple of games. Just a thought.MSU01 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 5:49 pmThe Bobcats start their 4-game road stretch to end the regular season tonight at winless PSU. Everything looking good so far for the ladies, up 33-17 at the half. SUU and UNC will both win on the men's side so no upsets tonight!

PDX State is pretty down this season, but this feels like a trap game. So far so good as we're making it really hard for them to score. PSU has a ton of turnovers and very few good looks at the basket. On offense we're hot and cold again. Beattie has been a spark plug. Mocchi has been steady as usual.

Watching onESPN plus. These announcers are tough to listen to. PSU cuts the lead briefly from 17 to 11 and they have us where they want us.

White hits a three at the buzzer and we stretch the lead to 19 at the end of three. PSU woke up and hit a bunch of threes-as we went cold again. The lead was down to 10 and they had a chance to get it to 8 but missed two free throws. Then Kola Bad Bear took over and restored order.

Re: WBB at PSU + Monday games
MSU looked terrible, then Binford puts the starters back in and MSU ends the quarter on a 12-3 run to go back up by 19. PSU got hot from 3 in the third quarter, we'll see if Binford makes some adjustments on defense as making a bunch of 3s is the only way PSU can really come back here.

Can somebody please enlighten me as to what kind of defense we are playing? I haven’t got to watch much this year, but was shocked at the Eastern Washington game how open the 3 point shooters were from the corner all game long. Now I am seeing the same thing in this second half. Why can’t we get to the shooters???

Not allowed to question these things……. It’s a defensive strategy!saintcat40 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 9:16 pmCan somebody please enlighten me as to what kind of defense we are playing? Best stat of the day...all starters played less than 25 minutes. That will pay off down the stretch. Good business like win.
Next game is Cat gris.

Bobcats get it done 82-57. Lots of balance-Bad Bear leads the way with 17. Successful business trip.

Hearing we had some travel adventures just getting to PDX. I know BZN was closed down some yesterday. Anybody know how we got there?

Nice job to take care of business and make the game relatively stress-free. PSU scored 36 points on 3s, 18 on 2s, and 3 on FTs for their 57 points. 3-point defense is clearly a weakness but PSU still only went 12-36 overall which isn't going to hurt you too badly.

No…I didn’t hear the specifics. Just heard had to split the team up. Some came over on Sunday morning flight and five ladies arrived about 1 pm today….including Gabbi, one of the starters.BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 10:05 pmHearing we had some travel adventures just getting to PDX. Back in a tie for first place!!!
Guaranteed a top 5 finish and a bye now, no matter what happens. But need to win out to have a chance to earn the conference crown!

I’ll give it a shot. Man defense, almost 100%. Switching all screens if possible. Bigger learning curve, but the starters especially do it very well and it’s very effective. It does lead to some size mismatches but no one has really exploited Darian very much! Our help side defense really sags in to help with the middle, especially against size (6’5” center) like Portland St. has. Our guards get a lot of defensive rebounds but we depend a lot on trying to close out the 3-point shooters or having them miss. If they are really threatening us with a good percentage they won’t be quite so open. Portland St. had a game plan but despite shooting a school record number of 3s, it didn’t work.saintcat40 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 9:16 pmCan somebody please enlighten me as to what kind of defense we are playing? Lol! I’ve never seen a WBB Bobcat player close out on a 3! I don’t care if you’re talking starters or the trainer. Our 3 pt defense is atrocious! It looks like we lose players in the corner often, very often.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 2:33 amI’ll give it a shot. Man defense, almost 100%. Switching all screens if possible.
