Really would. But, if we did and I totally understand as it is at the end of the day a business, we should look at Haslam or Russell. Those guys would keep the culture.

Is the pay scale that much better in wcc. EWU coach last year now maybe sprinkle going. Maybe it is a negotiating tactic to get a better extension

If Sprinke ends up getting/taking this job, what does the future hold for MSU basketball if we can't even get an alumni coach to stick around for more than 3 years? How does MSU ever break out of the "once every 20 years we are good" mold?

Their coach made about $480,000 according to his 2019 filing. More than double what Sprinkle is currently making.

Even our most passionate alumni would be silly not looking into doubling their current salary.

I wouldn't blame him, especially with the cost of living in Bozeman, he's not making that much. If we want to break the good once every 20 years mold we better find some CASH, otherwise that's about par. We got Danny on the cheap, we need to pay him if we want him to stay.

Tough to say. Weber has retained Rahe and UM has retained DeCuire for longer periods of time, so if Sprinkle leaves after 3 years I wouldn't necessarily assume that any other successful coach will do the same. The best way to keep things going is likely to follow the EWU model and promote a current assistant to keep the program moving in the same direction even if there's more roster turnover than expected with the coaching change.

This isn't an indictment on Sprinkle, of course he should take the job if he wants it. It would just be depressing for me as a fan. We've suffered through years and years of mediocre teams and coaching. Frankly it just leaves me with a bleak feeling about the program.

In February 2022, San Diego home prices were up 17.0% compared to last year, selling for a median price of $825K.
Median Price of a Single Family Home in Bozeman $837,500
He would be saving money by moving to SD, insane.

That isn't much saving. What is Danny's contract including incentives. Decuires new one seemed to put him near 400,000 after television, incentives etc

Sprinkle makes around $250,000 per year based on the contract extensions he and Coach Binford agreed to last year. Going to San Diego would in fact likely double his salary.

I really hope Coach Sprink stays....but I don't blame anyone for moving on for a better gig. I though being the HC at his alma mater would keep him around for a long time and give him a chance to build MSU into a power.
As an aside, the one thing I've always disliked about the NBA, is the lack of loyalty to any given city. It's simply driven by money. Now that's seeping into the college ranks. When that happens, the teams with the most $$ tend to be in the championships year in and year out.

Ok. Sprinkle currently does not have those game revenue bonuses in his contract with MSU. Hopefully MSU is able to offer him something like that to make it more likely he stays in the event that the rumors are true about San Diego being interested.

When adjusted for $7 gas and having to live in California it seems like a pay cut.
