The question here is of course does this have anything to do with the cost of living in Bozeman, because this seems like a lateral move career wise.

It might be the cost of living, but I think it could be a few other things. Maybe it is the same thing, but I suspect that Weber pays its coaches much more than MSU does. I doubt the cost of living is that much different, but I could certainly see Dan getting a pretty good salary bump. Weber is definitely a big basketball school and their focus seems to go towards men’s basketball. I think Rahe was making about 3 times what Sprinkle makes. And it also just might be an opportunity for Dan to learn under another coach, which is always a good career move.
I hate to see Dan go, very nice guy and a very good coach.

Coach Russell is a good one. He definitely picked up a pay raise with Weber, even though it looks like a lateral move. This will add some intrigue to the rivalry that is brewing with MSU and Weber State.
I see Weber taking a drop in their traditional perch near the top of the Big Sky -- losing Rahe is a pretty big deal. He had a ton of winning experience in his years in Ogden. I don't see them in the conversation to win the league next year with the players they lost and with turning over their coaching staff.

I really hate to see Russell leave. I thank him for his contributions to the Bobcat basketball program. I wish him all the best.

Dang, that one stings a little. Can't really blame him though assuming he's getting a pay raise at Weber which will help support his family. Best of luck to him except for in two (or three) games each season!

I don't believe the cost of living figured much in his decision. He probably moved for reasons already given.
But just to compare:
Cost of living Bozeman vs. Oden
Food.. Bozeman 16.6% +
Housing.. Bozeman 88.0% +
Median House Cost.. Bozeman 80.6% +
Utilities.. Ogden 8.4% +
Transportation.. Ogden 18.0 +
Health.. Even

The two housing costs, WOW!
