Looking to see what your thoughts are on this weekends games in Missoula.
How well do you think the Cats match up against the gris? And vise versa, how well do the gris match up against the Cats?
Are any of you going over for the day for one or both games?
We looking forward to a fun weekend in Missoula. We are meeting several other friends/families in town for both games. I'm assuming it will be a packed house with many fans looking for some kind of redemption after the stomping we all watched Nov. 19th. Ready for a fun weekend and a road sweep of the gris!

Assuming our guys can stay out of foul trouble AND make their free throws, I really like our chances. As for our women, for some reason we rarely play very well in Missoula, even when we have a way better team. I'm predicting the men will pull out a close one and the women will lose by 10-15, unfortunately.

Both will likely lose. I'd love to just once see our teams play well up there, but we never do. Jubrile Belo and Kola Bad Bear already have two fouls.

Hahah. Seriously! And Robbie already has 3 tackles.
I think both teams win easily.

Have the Bobcat men won in Missoula since the 2009 Big Sky Tournament first round? The women have had quite a lot of recent success there under Binford despite losing last year, but would sure be nice to see the men get a win too and counteract last night's bad loss a little.

I don’t know if 2009 was last victory for men in Missoula but you certainly may be right. I just did a quick history pull-up and Cats are 2-18 over last 20 games with 0-10 in away games!!!
And you are right on women, showed we were 8-2 in last 10 games including 7-1 since 2019. It’ll be a tough match for Lady Cats in Missoula……just depends on who shows up ready to play on either side!

Just went back and checked the old schedules - MSU swept UM in 2010 but hasn't won there since then. Yikes!

Excited for a fun weekend in Missoula! Depends on what teams show up!?!?
Disappointed the alumni association dropped the ball on the social in-between games this year.

Based on overall records, final regular season standings, and Big Sky tournament results last season, both our men's and women's teams were significantly better than the griz. Yet both our teams got beat in Missoula. This season, both sets of teams appear to be more even so...I would expect us to be big underdogs in both games.

I would agree.....but both the men and women can win, imo, if we hit some threes and play good D. UM will be keying in on Belo, so hitting some outside shots to spread the floor will be important.
Women's team in a similar situation....get Beattie and/or Limardo to hit some outside shots and loosen things up underneath for Bad Bear and Deden to work the glass.
Looking forward to this weekend....Dahlberg is always a tough place to play....should be fun!!
GO CATS!!!

Both Cat teams are better than the gris. Playing in Missoula probably makes them close to a coin flip.
I'm picking a Bobcat sweep.
Lexi and Leia, both having great UM players for moms, will have a great rivalry game and lead the Cats to victory.
On the mens side, the Cats are quite a bit better than the gris and the Gris have dropped two conference home games already.

I think both team can win fro MSU but we have to have a decent shooting night.
Men have really struggled to shoot ball well and women’s team has be inconsistent.
Games will be extremely competitive.

I think I remember that Carla Beattie was Leia’s aunt.

Karen Deden must be Lexi's aunt also. They both can't be named Deden. Gotta be Karen's brother's kid.

And maybe that’s the aunt setup and not Leia. In my feeble Pooh bear brain (now functioning with the covid additive) I think I maybe, might, possibly know one is an aunt connection, but I’m unsure.

Leia's mom: "Kelly (Pilcher) Beattie, was a two-time All-Big Sky Conference selection for the Lady Griz and is listed sixth all-time in assists at UM..."
Lexi's mom: "Dawn (Silliker) Deden played for Montana from 1984-88…at UM, she was a 1,000-point scorer and was an All-Mountain West Conference selection…in addition, her aunt and head coach at Sentinel High School, Karen Deden, was a standout at the University of Washington and is in the Husky Hall of Fame."

Thank you. With that kind of incentive, they should never lose in Dahlberg — if they don’t get too caught up in the hype. Go, Leia and Lexi — make us proud.

Yes Kelly Pilcher Beattie is Leia’s mom. As mentioned by Bobcat4Ever, Carla Beattie is indeed Leia’s aunt and she was a standout Lady Griz player also. In high school Carla was a leading scorer in the state and also achieved accolades while with the Griz. Carla coached Leia in high school and was highly successful as a coach winning a number of state titles for a small Christian high school in Midland Texas, see the 406 article attached.
Both Carla and Kelly with families attend quite a few games for the Lady Cats.
