Do these next three games matter? Are we #2 going into the tourney for sure? Too lazy too. Look it all up, hopefully someone can post the quick and dirty synopsis. Thanks

MSU is very likely to be the #2 seed but it isn't for sure yet.

Since MSU has a 2 game lead over Weber, if MSU goes 3-0 or 2-1 this weekend they clinch the #2 seed.

There's a very very outside shot for MSU to still end up #1 - if they sweep Sac and PSU and EWU loses at both ISU and Weber, then Monday's game gives MSU the opportunity to tie EWU at 15-3 with a win. Then it would go to a tiebreaker with the difference being MSU's loss to Idaho compared to EWU's loss to ISU. I believe MSU would win this tiebreaker as ISU is guaranteed to finish above Idaho if they beat EWU.

If MSU goes 1-2, then the only way they aren't the #2 seed is if Weber wins out and goes 3-0. Since Weber plays EWU this weekend, Weber would likely win the seeding tiebreaker over MSU as they'd have a win over EWU and MSU wouldn't (except in the highly unlikely scenario of MSU going 1-2 by losing at home to both Sac and PSU but then going on the road and beating EWU on Monday).

What happens to that theory if we don't get 3 games due to weather?

griz v PSU postponed due to weather in Portland what if they don't travel to Montana this weekend?

Not sure, during the COVID season when multiple games were cancelled they seeded based on win percentage when teams had unequal numbers of games played. Guessing that would be the case again here if UM/PSU can't be made up or if PSU also can't make it to Bozeman on Saturday.

Not sure this needs its own thread but it's interesting if nothing else.

Egriz is saying tentatively rescheduled for Wednesday, March 1.

If correct then PSU would have to travel to Bozeman. Then back to Portland for a game Monday night. Then back to Missoula for the make up game. Before heading to Boise by the weekend.

I wouldn't want it for my team.

Cats win, Weber loses, #2 seed is clinched.

So after games tonight EWU has #1 locked and MSU has #2 locked.

Wonder if Danny plays the full bench the next couple games to get everyone healthy and rest legs. I know Darius looked like he hurt an ankle or lower leg in second half tonight.

That is tough for PSU. Not sure if it's feasible at this point but what makes the most sense to me would be to have PSU stay in Montana and play UM Monday night. Then move UM @ Idaho and Sac @ PSU to Wednesday if those games matter for seeding.

In the postgame radio interview they asked him if locking up the seed would change anything for the next two games. He said from a just for rest standpoint probably not because he just isn’t that type of coach. But did say that he has to get some guys healthy so will take a look at guys like Darius and Battle (said had a calf injury from practice that he played through) and ensure they were ready for the tournament.

Oh, great! I guess now all of our scoring will come from the free-throw line.
