Cats MBB vs Cal

Post by Ilikecats » Mon Nov 13, 2023 12:57 pm

I went on the Cal Website to see what we’re facing on Thursday and found a familiar name. Blair Braxton is Director of Business Operations for the Men’s team. Is that our Blair ? There wasn’t a bio. it looks like they got a lot of players from the transfer portal. Their best player was ruled ineligible by the NCAA. Looks like they’re appealing.

I think it is MSU's Blaire Braxton, she isn't very active on Twitter but has liked a few Cal-related tweets over the past several months.

Hard to believe that soon- next season, in fact, Cal will be in the ACC with Duke, N. Carolina, Virginia etc.

Ken Moses, assistant for Cal should also be a familiar face for a few of the holdover players and MSU fans as well. Madsen brought Coach Ken over to Utah Valley after the first BigSky championship 2 years ago and retained him for his Cal staff this year.
You’ll also see a familiar face in Jalen Cone. Fans should remember him for the headache he’s caused the cats playing for NAU the last couple years (including the team we saw last year in the BigSky conference championship).

Jaylan Tyson has approved by the Ncaa to play. He looks great. He will be an nba player. Cal is much improved but still a work in process. Offense is ahead of the defense. Madsen seems to be the real deal. Some players from last year are playing much better. No more slow down .i understand you shoot a lot of threes. It should be interesting

Any tips on how to watch these Pac12 games we have coming up? We use Directv, no pac12 network there. I've used a free trial on Fubo the past three years, but i've used all my emails now and I would need to come up with a new 4th email to attempt to get their programming.. So, what else works?

New coach. Lost a lot of talent to the tranfer portal from last season's NCAA team. New coach's style appears to be a little more up tempo. Have to rely on outside shooting because our new bigs aren't very "big". Not tall anyway. We're still waiting and seeing what we really have, but looking forward to the process.

You should be able to watch it on the web. Go to the 'Cats website (msubobcats.com) then go to the men's basketball schedule. Where it shows the Cal game there is a WATCH button on the right. Click that and you should be good.

Until he’s on the perimeter. Pretty sure he’s not the guy Logie wants to be taking a high % of shots from 3.

Good Half, could be better if they could hit a 3, but great D.

Good half indeed.

Not having ET3, at least on the Offensive side has allowed the ball to move more freely. Defense is solid! BW scoring 14 is a big up, if only he could back it up on the defensive half. Gotta be able to play both sides. Lecholat missing a couple close attempts needs some attention. He’s better than that.

For a team built around the 3 we don't shoot the 3 very well. And yet, we're somehow still up 11. Weird game. Ford is our best rebounder by a wide margin

Very impressed with the coaching staff as well, they've clearly set up MSU to take advantage of certain things and it keeps working when MSU can execute it well.

Hard fought win we deserved and earned. We led the whole way and were the better team. Had plenty of opportunities to fold and refused to do so. Never a bad win at a Pac 12 opponents place. Nice works fellas!
