Wbb vs San Jose
It’s 40-40 late third. Anyone know if there’s a way to track it?

I’m watching on ESPN plus. Good game so far. Rough first half offensively for both teams, about 25% from the floor.
Much better 3rd quarter with the Cats up 45-40

Cats went on a nice run with a high pace. Got it to 50-42. Cats pace slowed at bit and SJSU climbed back in to 50-47 about half way through the 4th

This game is the definition of "letting them play". Looks like the Cats will pull this one out though!

Re: Wbb vs San Jose
This game is worth watching the replay on espn+ . As mentioned the refs kept their whistles in their pockets and let them play.

The MSU Athletic Department will probably wait until after the football season ends to even think about putting any energy into Women's basketball

Re: Wbb vs San Jose
That was a fun physical scrap against San Jose State. SJSU was very physical and when they got down even got a little dirty. Our team stood up to it though and got a nice win over a Mountain West team. The 4th quarter was a real bugaboo the last two games, but KJ Limardo and Madison Hall hit some dagger threes down the stretch to pull away.
A couple strange things stood out...Madison being the calm-keep it together-leader is kind of hilarious compared to her younger days when she would sometimes be out of control. We are extremely lucky to have her back. These young players really need her. Binford only played 8 players-very strange to see-as we've been used to 10 or more players rotating in over the years. Dylan Philip is in a boot with a cart-so that doesn't look too good. Lyndsey Hein was suited up, but didn't play.
They really needed this win. They're on the road now for over a month. Also, their non-conference schedule is absolutely brutal.

The MSU athletic department seems very into all sports. They had the XC coach and a runner come to the football presser and be interviewed between Vigen and players this past Saturday.

Yeah, it’s so uncharacteristic of Binford to play so few players, especially so early in the season. She’s got two, Olson and Philip, out with injuries and Hein apparently just coming back from her injury who didn’t play. Then the true freshman Boulanger and Johnson who haven’t suited up yet this season that appear to be destined for redshirt seasons. I assumed that one of them, but not both, were going to redshirt. Neither Blumfield nor Egan played at all.BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 10:47 pmThat was a fun physical scrap against San Jose State. Speaking of Blumfield, after three games, it’s a bit of a surprise to me that her and the other transfer, Berry, haven’t made an impact at all.

She played her 8 players she felt would win the game and they won. They look pretty good this year.

Re: Wbb vs San Jose
Thoughts from last night...
1) Never realized how much I use Live Stats as a crutch, until it doesn't work for a game. Bad night for me.
2) San Jose State hit like the Cats LB's hit. It was VERY physical, and the poise of the Cats is the reason they won. They didn't get pulled into. For a young team, that was HUGE!! There is a fine line between "Letting them play" and what happened last night.
3) San Jose came into the game with 40 3 point attempts TOTAL... They shot 23 last night, hitting 6.
4) Cats won 3 of the 4 quarters
5) I said it before the season, this team will take time to jell, but once they do... Look out.

2) Yeah they let some big hits go uncalled but didn't hesitate to call a few ticky tac fouls on MSU
3) It looked like SJS started throwing up prayers when they probably could've closed the gap by driving and working it inside
4) Cats won the 3 quarters I got to watch hmmm
5) This game made them look like they're jelling very quickly I hope that continues. Having said that I'm a little surprised that Berry and Blumfield
haven't gotten rolling more yet.

Re: Wbb vs San Jose
I’m still trying to figure out late in the game when the Cats got the rebound, looked like a hard foul, and the whistle blew for a SJSU timeout. Then the Cats piggybacked another time out after that. I don’t have a deep level of basketball knowledge, but I was confused if there was actually a foul called as never saw the official signal it, and if not, how did they call timeout with the Cats having possession? MSU inbounded the ball after that sequence. Nobody seemed to have an issue with it so I was confused.SACCAT wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 9:04 amThoughts from last night...

Re: Wbb vs San Jose
Than you @SACCAT for that statement. As soon as I saw the size of the SJSU players, and the officiating crew, I knew it was going to be hockey without pads. Sad to see, actually, as the game has rules. Maybe a game like that is fun for awhile, but I was holding my breath that we got out of it without any additional injuries (at least I hope we did). Not sure what happened when Madison went down, and hope she’s as okay as she looked.SACCAT wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 9:04 amThoughts from last night...

Re: Wbb vs San Jose
They said that San Jose got a Timeout called before the foul, but they didn't have the ball. So it was a blown call. Binford then called a timeout right after to calm her players down, as they were not happy.tdub wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 10:04 amI’m still trying to figure out late in the game when the Cats got the rebound, looked like a hard foul, and the whistle blew for a SJSU timeout. Re: Wbb vs San Jose
I sort of thought the opposite about the officiating. I think with the style we play on defense, and especially being outsized, our players were allowed a wide latitude for most of the game. Yeah, SJSU was extremely physical as well and didn’t get a lot called either. No question about that.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 10:15 amThan you @SACCAT for that statement.
